About Hard Ever After:

Justice served. Honor restored. Team reunited.

After a long battle to discover the truth, the men and women of Hard Ink have a lot to celebrate, especially the wedding of two of their own—Nick Rixey and Becca Merritt, whose hard-fought love deserves a happy ending.

As Nick and the team shift from crisis mode to building their new security consulting firm, Becca heads back to work at the ER. But amid the everyday chaos of demanding jobs and their upcoming nuptials, an old menace they thought long gone reemerges, threatening the peace they’ve only just found.

Now, for one last time, Nick and Becca must fight for their always and forever, because they know that when true love overcomes all the odds it lasts hard ever after.

Nick pulled her bra strap off to the side. “Ready?”

“Very,” Becca said, butterflies doing a small loop in her belly.

The tattoo machine came to life on a low buzz. “Just relax and let me know if you need a break, okay?” he said, dipping the tip into a little plastic cup of black ink.

“Okay.” His gloved hands fell against her skin, and then the needles. Almost a scratching feeling, it didn’t hurt nearly as bad as she thought it would. And just like when he’d drawn on her with skin markers, she was already dying to see what it looked like.

“How you doing?” he asked in a voice full of concentration she found utterly sexy. Just the thought that he was permanently altering her skin—just like he’d permanently altered her heart, her life, her very soul—sent a hot thrill through her blood.

“I’m good,” she said, relaxing into the sensation of the bite moving across her skin. “Is it weird that I kinda like how it feels?”

He didn’t answer right away as the needle moved in a long line. He pulled the machine away and wiped at her shoulder. “Not weird at all,” he said, his voice a little gravelly. “Some people like the sensation and even find getting tattoos addictive.”

“I can see that,” she said. He worked without talking for a stretch, and the combination of the quiet intensity radiating off of him, the driving rock beat, and the buzz of the machine was heady and intoxicating. She found herself breathing a little faster and wanting so much more of him to be touching so much more of her. If she thought he was sexy putting ink on someone else, it was nothing compared to how she felt when he was doing it to her.

“What are you thinking about so hard?” Nick asked, his breath caressing her bare shoulder.

“Really want to know?” she asked, already smiling at what his reaction might be.

“Always,” he said, wiping at her skin. He dipped the machine in the ink and leaned in again.

“How turned on this is making me.” She really wanted to turn to see his expression but knew she wasn’t supposed to move.

He pulled the machine away again. “Jesus, Becca. You’re killing me here.”

She grinned. “I asked if you really wanted to know.”

Nick chuffed out a laugh. “Yeah, well, I’ve never had a fucking hard-on the entire time I’ve done a tattoo before, so you’re not the only one.”

Becca unleashed a small moan. “Now you’ve got me thinking about your cock, Nick.” She couldn’t help the hint of a whine in her voice.

“You’ll never convince me that that’s a bad thing, Sunshine.”

Hard Ink Tattoo owner Jeremy Rixey has taken on his brother’s stateside fight against the forces that nearly killed Nick and his Special Forces team a year before. Now, Jeremy’s whole world has been turned upside down–not the least of which by a brilliant, quiet blond man who tempts Jeremy to settle down for the first time ever.

Recent kidnapping victim Charlie Merritt has always been better with computers than people, so when he’s drawn into the SF team’s investigation of his army colonel father’s corruption, he’s surprised to find acceptance and friendship–especially since his father never accepted who Charlie was. Even more surprising is the heated tension Charlie feels with sexy, tattooed Jeremy, Charlie’s opposite in almost every way.

With tragedy and chaos all around them, temptation flashes hot, and Jeremy and Charlie can’t help but wonder why they’re trying so hard to be good…

My Thoughts

Original Review on....

Okay so this is going to be a short review as I am at work.

Jeremy, Jeremy, Jeremy….. What can I say I love him! He is so amazingly talented and I wish I could meet someone like him! His charisma pulled me in from the very first book. Laura Kaye keeps pulling me in with each book she writes. I need to tell you this novella was just amazing and such a quick and hot read. I don’t normally read m/m books but I really needed to see if Charlie and Jeremy were going to find some happy ever after.

pll_ezria_gif_by_thefoggylight-d4pyb7p

I admire Charlie so much, after what he has been through it must be so hard but he is so strong. Thankfully Jeremy started pulling him out of his comfort zone he is the one that could get Charlie to smile and feel. Charlie is such an introvert just like me and he likes to observe so he does that a lot when it comes to Jeremy. He started having feelings for Jeremy but did not know how to show it and he was scared that Jeremy might push him away or their friendship might change after that.  Jeremy saw that Charlie needs a push so he decided to push him and thankfully that was a good choice.

If he never kissed Charlie for the first time then they would not have gone after each other and they would never have found out how much they like each other. Though Charlie nearly lost Jeremy because he is afraid what others might think of him being gay but they he noticed that he does not care because he hated not being near Jeremy.

815993

In basic terms I loved this short novella I read it in less than an hour in one sitting position. I would recommend this series to everyone but I would easily reread this novel and let me tell you it was already a reread. 😛 I adore Charlie because he is just so sweet but I loved and adored Jeremy with his shirts and innuendos. I love him!  80e9e55dcc0b5a12ae8ec8c23b92a001

Caught between desire and loyalty…

Derek DiMarzio would do anything for the members of his disgraced Special Forces team–sacrifice his body, help a former teammate with a covert operation to restore their honor, and even go behind enemy lines. He just never expected to want the beautiful woman he found there.

When a sexy stranger asks questions about her brother, Emilie Garza is torn between loyalty to the brother she once idolized and fear of the war-changed man he’s become. Derek’s easy smile and quiet strength tempt Emilie to open up, igniting the desire between them and leading Derek to crave a woman he shouldn’t trust.

As the team’s investigation reveals how powerful their enemies are, Derek and Emilie must prove where their loyalties lie before hearts are broken and lives are lost. Because love is too hard to come by to let slip away…

My Thoughts

Original Review on....

Okay so this is going to be a short review as I am at work.

Let me tell you this book is just so much fun to read. This book had the perfect balance of romance and suspense and don’t forget all that emotion! It was SEXY & HOT and don’t forget about all those funny moments. I always want to see what T-Shirt Jeremy wears, it always make me smile…. But I loved Marz.

pll_ezria_gif_by_thefoggylight-d4pyb7p

As always Laura Kaye kept my interest since the beginning of the book! I also love it that I can see into both of the main characters minds. The emotions in the book was amazing. I mean I figured out that lighting the mood for everyone and making jokes is short of a defence mechanism. I don’t know how he survived for so long without loving people except his team mates. I feel for him so much because all his life he was alone.  I also can’t believe how strong Emilie is I mean it takes a strong person to go to the police and ask for an evaluation knowing that Manny is struggling with PTSD as she is afraid he might hurt himself or someone else. The problem with that is she was too late to save him.

Now what is this story about? Derek DiMarzio wants to restore his honor and his teams honor and to do that they need to find out what Many Garza has to do with all the stuff they uncovered. They need to find Manny but he is like a ghost. Marz thinks the way in would be Manny’s sister Emilie, they think he might go to her. First Marz did not know if they can trust her but soon he became to like her. Marz made Emilie feel again and when she was in danger he came running to save her. She never thought she would fall in love again or trust again not with her past. And also because when Marz first met her, he kind of lied to her about everything up until she got into danger.tumblr_nsxyvr77ib1qlgbzbo1_500

Anyway like always this book was amazing and I loved rereading it. This book had my emotions running high and I would highly recommend it to anyone I see. Trust me it is such a quick read with a lot of suspense and sexy swoon worthy men!!!  I mean this book had more than enough action, suspense and like I said already a lot of emotions with steamy romance. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

Edward “Easy” Cantrell knows better than most the pain of not being able to save those he loves–which is why he is not going to let Jenna Dean out of his sight.  He may have just met her, but Jenna’s the first person to make him feel alive since that devastating day in the desert more than a year ago.

Jenna has never met anyone like Easy. She can’t describe how he makes her feel–and not just because he saved her life. No, the stirrings inside her reach far beyond gratitude.

As the pair are thrust together while chaos reigns around them, they both know one thing: the things in life most worth having are the hardest to hold on to.

My Thoughts

Original Review on....

Okay so this is going to be a short review as I am at work. Anyway like all of Laura Kaye’s books I loved this one. This book has so much emotion in it. What Jenna went through broke my heart and I just wish people would stop hurting women. This book also had one sexy guy and what I love most about this book is everyone treats each other like family. I absolutely adore Jeremy in every book, I always wonder what shirt he is wearing at the time. I wish I knew someone like him in my life.

80e9e55dcc0b5a12ae8ec8c23b92a001

I love this cover as well. Now what is this story about?

Jenna was kidnapped by Sara’s ex-boyfriend and held captive in Confession strip club. She has epilepsy so being kidnapped was even more dangerous for her. Sara’s new friends went to Confessions to save her and Easy liked her the moment he met her. If you read the Hard As You Can you will read when Easy and Jenna met for the first time. Jenna is like saving grace for Easy. He has had a hard life since he got back from the army. He keeps thinking that he does not deserve to be alive. He misses his best friend so much and he thinks he does not deserve to live.

Jenna gave him the courage to talk to his friends about it and after that he told her about it. Easy is like ten years older than Jenna but yet they start falling for each other. Jenna does not trust being around anyone right now. The only place she feels safe is if she is with Easy. She does not want to be around Sara much because she is scared to talk about what happened and also she feels like she was a burden all her life. She blames herself about what happened to Sara.

tumblr_nsxyvr77ib1qlgbzbo1_500

Anyway this was one easy and quick read that I finished in about an hour and a half. I love this book so much and I would easily reread it all again. This book had the right emotions and steamy. I mean this book had more than enough action, suspense and like I said already a lot of emotions with steamy romance. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

Excerpt

Easy’s heart pounded in his chest. And it had absolutely nothing to do with the five miles he’d just run. Jenna needed him. Fierce protectiveness and a deep masculine satisfaction roared through him. She’d sought him out for comfort, for strength, for protection. Not only that, she was wearing his shirt. And she’d been staring at his body like she was fucking hungry. Needless to say, the past few minutes had tripped all kinds of switches in Easy’s brain where Jenna Dean was concerned. But he had to dial himself down. She was scared. And hurt. And clearly traumatized by everything that’d happened. He leaned down to look her in the eye, trying not to focus on the bruises—he didn’t want to make her feel self-conscious, and he sure as hell didn’t want to get any more enraged on her behalf than he already was. “You ever need me, for any reason, I am here for you. No questions asked. Got that?” He brushed his knuckles down her uninjured cheek. “Yes,” she said, giving him a quick nod and leaning into his touch. And damn if that didn’t make him feel ten feet tall—a notable feat for a guy who’d felt beaten down for most of the past year. He gently rubbed his hands over her arms. “What do you need right now?” – See more at: Divider_031

A New York Times and USA Today Bestseller!

Ever since hard-bodied, drop-dead-charming Shane McCallan strolled into the dance club where Crystal Dean works, he’s shown a knack for getting beneath her defenses. For her little sister’s sake, Crystal can’t get too close. Until her job and Shane’s mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.

Shane would never turn his back on a friend in need, especially a former Special Forces teammate running a dangerous, off-the-books operation. Nor can he walk away from Crystal. The gorgeous waitress is hiding secrets she doesn’t want him to uncover. Too bad. He’s exactly the man she needs to protect her sister, her life, and her heart. All he has to do is convince her that when something feels this good, you hold on as hard as you can–and never let go.

My Thoughts

Original Review on....

Hard as you can is one of my favorite books of this series. Yes I have already read this book but I just never reviewed it. I planned to change that. I love the romance and suspense. It is just a perfect balance between the two. Don’t forget the sexy hot southern charm of Shane McCallan. Laura Kaye just knows how to write a book that keeps all my attention I mean I haven’t touched my study materials much lately.

First off all I adore this cover. What is there not to like? It’s just one amazing cover. What I like about the cover is you can see how well defined and strong Shane is well the guy portraying Shane in the covers but still the same. They got the right guy for the cover.

s6jb85olo8a7

Now what is this great book about? Shane McCallen is one of the five men working together to clear their names after they got discharged from the army for something they did not do. They were all blamed for it and now they may not speak to anyone about it. In the previous book Charlie Merrit found out something about their Frank Merrit that started this entire investigation. What Charlie found out had put him in harm’s way and he got himself kidnapped. Becca Merrit needed the help of the five men to get him back and that is how they all got together again. They found out where Charlie was held and they went to rescue them. Now this is where Crystal comes in. She somehow helped them even though she knew it was dangerous.

Shane saw something in Crystal that made him think of his sister at first. She was scared shitless and she has nowhere to go. Crystal is in debt to the Church gang and she needs to pay her debt off. She is working it off at Confessions and she is doing everything she can to blend in. after all it is just eight months more….. The moment Crystal met Shane was the moment everything changed in her life. I mean she decided to help him even if it was dangerous for her. Shae made her feel safe and protected and he made her feel cherished. Shane fell for Crystal fast and hard and the same went for Crystal. What I love about Shane and all the other men is how protective they are over the women I mean they don’t raise their fists to any of the women. Not like Bruno the boyfriend Crystal had when she met Shane. I admire Crystal so much. I mean she had a real hard life but yet she did everything she could to take care of her sister and to keep her safe. She never want Jenna to be in danger and she tried her best to keep her safe.

1437417378348

Anyway back to the novel I loved every moment of every second. Yes I took a while to read this but that is because I got busy with my work.  I would easily reread this book again as this is nearly one of my favorite books in this series. This book has the perfect balance of romance and suspense. Loved every moment of it.

Excerpt

“Do you like to dance, Crystal?” Shane asked in a low voice.   “Uh, what? Why?”   His smile was crooked, playful. “ ’Cause dancing’s something people do when they’re getting to know each other.”   “Really?” Maybe where he was from. Then again, she worked in a strip club. Dancing was something people did to make money. So, okay, maybe her view of dancing was a bit jaded.   “Absolutely. Ask anybody.” The song faded away, followed by the announcement of a Southern rock station’s call sign. A new song started, and Shane turned to her with a smile. “Dance with me.”   Crystal peered up at him without the slightest idea how to respond. Because her body was saying hell, yes!, while her brain was screaming bad idea, really, really bad idea.   He stepped closer, arms raised, expression full of all kinds of invitation.   The next thing she knew, her right hand was in his and her left had slipped around his neck. Ohmigod, ohmigod, ohmigod, ran over and over in her mind. What am I doing? But then he tucked her hand against his chest and tugged her against him with the hand that settled at her lower back. And the closeness stole her breath.   He moved them to the beat of the song, a slow, sexy, bluesy number she didn’t know but would never forget. Some songs carried memories like the images were imprinted upon the very lyrics themselves, and she had no doubt this would be one of them.   All of a sudden, the air in the room felt ten degrees warmer. As they swayed to the beat, Shane’s body pressed against hers from thighs to chest. With every step and move and turn, Crystal’s breasts rubbed against the hard plane of his chest. Strong hands held and guided her body, making her want to feel them explore her everywhere. Arousal rose like a waking dragon inside her. Cautious. Curious. Dangerous.   This was wrong and stupid on so many levels. But, scary as it was, it felt so freaking good that she couldn’t force herself to pull away. One song. It’s just a dance. Just a dance just a dance just a dance.   And, holy crap, she wasn’t the only one aroused.   Against her belly, Shane hardened.   Crystal sucked in a breath, and he pressed his lips close to her ear. “We’re just dancing here. That’s all. I promise,” he said. But the adrenaline was already in her blood, setting her to a trembling she couldn’t control. Part curious interest and part instinctive fear. “Sshh,” he almost cooed. “Just dancing.”   The echo of her own thoughts from a moment before allowed her to draw a breath that almost calmed. They turned and swayed to the music, moving closer, pressing tighter, Shane’s lips so close to her face that she could feel his breath shudder across her cheekbone.   He was a fire she had no business playing with. She knew that even as she leaned her face against his . . . and got exactly what she’d hoped for.   He kissed her.   Just a brush of his lips against her cheek, but a kiss all the same.   And as much as it made her head spin, it was the little catch of breath in the back of his throat that sent a jolt of electricity down her spine to settle low in her belly. Light as a feather, he caressed her cheek, her temple, her ear with his lips. With him, always such gentleness, so different from almost every other sexual experience she’d ever had. It made her feel safe to allow this to continue.   Between them, his erection was firm, long, totally unyielding.   She shivered, caught between interest and fear, desire a river moving faster and faster inside her. The whole experience was a revelation—that her body had the capacity to respond this way, that a person existed who could pull these reactions from her.   For a moment, she gave herself over to the dizzying sensations. In her mind’s eye, she saw them undressing, fumbling their way back the hall, falling naked and wanting on the bed. What would it be like, just once, to take something that she wanted without worrying about anyone else, without being afraid? Just one wild, secret night, all for her? What would Shane be like? – See more atDivider_031

A Hard Ink Special Announcement from Laura Kaye! + Giveaway

PrintFrom the author of the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Hard Ink Series, comes a special announcement sure to excite readers everywhere! Don’t miss what Laura Kaye has to say…

A Hard Ink Special Announcement from Laura Kaye!

As I celebrate the release last week of Hard to Let Go, the finale in my Hard Ink romantic suspense series, I’m super excited to share some more news about Hard Ink! I’m going to do another book in this series. And not just any book. I’m going to write a wedding novella for one of the couples in the series!! And I’m so flippin’ excited!!!

This is how this idea came about: I happened to see another author celebrating the release of a follow-up wedding book, and I’ve never written any follow-up stories about any of my characters—once they’ve gotten their happily ever afters in their original story, I just moved right on to the next couple. But that author’s book got me thinking about who I would even do a follow-up story on. Who is it that would get married? My initial thoughts went right to the Hard Ink series, of course, because I’ve been immersed in this world for the past two years and absolutely adore these characters. Seriously – I know many of us have joked about the title of the last book being apropos, and trust me when I say I’m feeling that, too. I want more Hard Ink myself.

And then I had to ask – which couple? My gut instinct was to say Nick and Becca. They started the series, have been together the longest, and the personal issues they each have and struggles they each face are less than some of the other characters. BUT…

But then my brain started to think about all the other couples. And as I thought through all of them, I could make a case why any of the Hard Ink couples might be the first to get married.

And that’s where YOU come in.

I can’t decide which couple to write.

I could make the argument for Nick and Becca for all the reasons above. I could make the argument that Shane would be eager to take care of Sara in every way he can. I could make the argument that Easy and Jenna’s bond would be so tight because of the hell Easy’s come through and him having saved Jenna’s life. Marz has never wanted anything more than a family, so I could see him being eager to make Emilie his forever. Jeremy and Charlie had the bond of best friends before becoming lovers, and I could see the two of them wanting to prove the depth of their love by committing to forever. And Kat so knocked Beckett on his ass that I could see him wanting to hold her tight and, well, never let go – and finally have a family that valued him.

So, yeah, I can’t decide!

Which means you guys get to.

For real.

I’m letting you pick.

Beckett Murda hates to dwell on the past. But his investigation into the ambush that killed half his Special Forces team and ended his Army career gives him little choice. Just when his team learns how powerful their enemies are, hard-ass Beckett encounters the biggest complication yet—seductive, feisty Katherine Rixey.

A tough, stubborn prosecutor, Kat visits her brothers’ Hard Ink Tattoo following a bad break-up—and finds herself staring down the barrel of a stranger’s gun. Beckett is hard-bodied and sexy as hell, but he’s also the most infuriating man ever. Worse, Kat’s brothers are at war with criminals her office is investigating. When Kat joins the fight, she lands straight in Beckett’s sights—and his arms. Not to mention their enemies’ crosshairs.

Now Beckett and Kat must set aside their differences to work together, because finding love is never easy, and getting justice is hard to the end…

review

IMG_0264I loved this book so much so that the first thing  I did is grab my cell to write this review! It had just the right amount of Suspence and romance, it was sexy, steamy, hot and just downright sweet! I’ve read nearly all off Laura’s book that this book was just as great as the others! This book was the perfect end to an amazing series with the sweetest HEA! If you haven’t read the first books in the series starting with Hard As it Gets then you have to read it before you decide to read this book since the series focuses on the five guys trying to clear there names for an event that happened to them when they where in the army together. We followed the guys from Hard Ink through action, danger and mystery get get a well deserved HEA. And in the very book Laura Kaye pulls out all the stops. I can tell you Kat and Beckett are one of my favorite couples in this series maybe because of the way they met and acted around each other in the beginning.

“Glad he’s not,” Charlie said, humor and embarrassment mixed in his voice. He crossed his arms. “He’d probably wear his ‘I’ve got a pole you can dance on’ T-shirt just to spite me.”
Marz burst out laughing. “Charlie Merritt! I didn’t know you had that in you,” he managed, still laughing.
Charlie gave Beckett a Did he really just say that? look, his embarrassment easing in favor of amusement.“Dude. Think about what you just said and remember you’re talking to a gay man.”

They fight like cats and dogs which leads up to some smoking hot sexy time! I can certainly tell you the series got hotter by each book, this book being the hottest of them all. Beckett is know in the group as the quite one and when I look at Kat the first I can say she is all outspoken. She is the total opposite to Beckett. Beckett comes off as an ass but it’s all the mask he wears to hide all his emotions and everything that goes on in his head. But when is his soft and sweet to Kat it just melts my heart and his past just want to make me hug him! (But obviously I cant he is after all a fictional character!) Laura’s trade mark humor is still running full swing in this book and I love it because it balances out the dark and the light in that book. You can tell what’s not to like with an tough as nails alpha male with a heart of gold who goes through a lot of struggle to get over his low self-esteem and smart, sassy and fierce heroine that has to go through her own struggle herself. I loved how strong Kat is and how she would do everything she can to help her brothers even risk her career  with all those illegal things the guys did. I also love that Kat has such a great heart and is fiercely protective with those she loves.

“Stay,” he said, closing his arms around her back. He pulled her in tight.
And as they stood in the dark holding each other, Beckett had a goddamned ridiculous realization. He could count the number of people who had hugged him before this moment on one finger—Becca, when she’d apologized to him for what they’d all thought her father had done. Before that, Beckett couldn’t ever remember being hugged. Not once.

How I felt at the end of the book, at the end of the series was absolute joy because of the amazing HEA! I cannot wait to read the spin-off series that will focus on the Raven motorcycle gang that came into the series in the beginning to help the Hard Ink boys to stop the bad guys. Here I’m hoping that there would be some cameos from the guys and that lovely girls. This is a great way to end the series but I need more…..

”Don’t let me hurt you. Never let me hurt you, Angel. Promise me.”

Now Beckett and Kat must set aside their differences to work together, because finding love is never easy, and getting justice is hard to the end…

Now here is a short Excerpt for you!

Taking a deep breath, Beckett knocked on the door.

No answer.

He turned the knob, and the door opened.

“Go away,” came a strained voice.

Beckett poked his head through the opening. Kat sat in a ball in the corner, her legs pulled up to her chest, her arms hugging herself tight.

“Aw, Jesus, Beckett. Really?” Her face was splotchy and her eyes watery, though he didn’t see any tears.

Ten-to-one she was going through some adrenaline letdown right now, too. Which no doubt made it all worse. That shit could fuck you up even when you were used to how it left you feeling drained and shaky, by how all the stress you’d suppressed during the height of the crisis boomeranged twice over after the fact.

He came into the room, closed the door, and turned the lock for good measure. And then he crossed to Kat, scooped his arms under her knees and behind her back and lifted her up against him.

She smacked his chest. “Put me down.”

“No.” He moved to the edge of the bed.

“I don’t need this right now, Beckett. Put me down.”

“Yes, you do,” he said, sitting on the edge of the mattress. He pulled her face in against his throat and smoothed her hair back from her cheek. She trembled against him, just the littlest bit, her skin hot to the touch. He pressed a kiss to her forehead and hugged her tighter. “You did good, kid.”

Every one of her muscles went tight. Her hand fisted in his shirt. And her breath caught as she buried her face against his neck and shoulder.

Then Kat burst out crying.

And it was like being torn apart and put back together, all at once. He hated her pain, but he adored that she wasn’t hiding herself from him, and that she was letting him be there for her.

He didn’t shush her, or try to talk her down, or encourage her to dry her eyes. To be sure, her tears were like daggers in his heart—they hurt like fucking hell. But the only way she was going to feel better was to let this shit out. Ironic realization for him—he did actually see that. But just because you could see what was good for others didn’t mean you had the first goddamned idea how to apply those principles in your own life. And that was a problem for another time anyway.

What mattered right now was Kat. What mattered … was Kat.
