The second novel in Ronnie Douglas’ sexy Southern Wolves motorcycle club series—reminiscent of Kristen Ashley and Jay Crownover—tells the story of an aspiring fashion designer and a biker who discover a desire that knows no limits.

When the daughter of one of the

Southern Wolves gets a flat in the middle of a thunderstorm, there’s only one thing to do—strip down to her underwear and get a little muddy. But when Alamo, the sexy biker shows up to rescue Ellen yet again, things are bound to get a whole lot dirtier.

Between the trouble he left behind and club rules, Alamo knows he needs to stay clear of Ellen. He’s not looking for a woman or complications—even when that woman is everything a man could want. Unfortunately, Ellen isn’t playing by anyone’s rules but her own these days, and a Southern woman who’s been raised by Wolves is awfully hard to deny.

So when they give in to their raging attraction, both get much more than they bargained for.

My Thoughts
*Advanced Readers Copy received in exchange for an honest review*

First let me tell you this will be a really short review, only because im drowning at work and only have 10 minutes. I thought this book was okay though I enjoyed the first book more. It can be read as a standalone but I suggest you read the first book first as this book is parallel to the first one.

I thought this book would be darker and rawer which should fit most of the Motorcycle stories I’ve read lately but Ronnie Douglas took the MC story into a different direction. This novel had little action and not a lot of romance. When I got to the great romance that I enjoy to read I found out that im ¾ done with the book. Anyway this story did make me smile and it was clever. Ellen had a great desire and fascination for Alamo, but Noah kept using the club code to call dibs on Ellen. One thing I like to mention is that there was very little foul language and I’ve gotten quite use to a lot of foul language when it comes to an MC. In my eyes this book fall easily in the NA category.

I did not feel like Ellen and Alamo’s relationship was real. I found it hard to get the nice couple feel from them. Anyway it was an okay read for me I did enjoy it, that’s why it is getting 3 hearts but somehow I wanted something more from this. I don’t know what but I just needed something different. I did find it hard to write out this review as it was hard to rate but I would not go lower than this.

I can say one thing: I suggest you should read the first book first, to understand it better in my option even though this book can be read as a standalone. All in all this was a good addition to the series and an enjoyable enough read to past the time. I am looking forward to see what’s next.

Excerpt

Alamo stood in the middle of a sea of boxes that filled his new house. He was no stranger to moving. Growing up, he’d been rousted from his bed more times than he could count to move to a new place in the middle of the night. His mother would let the back rent build up as far as she could, and then they’d skip out. Mix in a few turns in foster care over the years when she was arrested, and he’d become something of a pro at traveling light and moving quickly. This time, though, he was moving everything he’d accumulated over several years of stability. He had absolutely no desire to put it to rights in a new place.

Truth be told, this new house was the nicest place he’d ever lived. It wasn’t home, though. Home was a modest-sized apartment in Durham, North Carolina. Home was having his sister Zoe in the house, badly imitating his Spanish cusswords and singing like a cat in a surly mood—and he missed it.

He’d lost that right when he’d lost his temper. He knew it, but that didn’t make it any less frustrating. He’d done the right thing, and there wasn’t a minute of it that he regretted. The man deserved every punch, but that was neither here nor there. Truth didn’t change facts, and the facts were that Alamo was a big man, and his long-gone father wasn’t as white as his mama had been. Race shouldn’t matter, but sometimes having darker skin still did, especially in a city where drug traffic was as common as it was in Durham. The police tended to blame it on one segment of the population, those with darker skin. He was a large man with darker skin. To add to that, once the police saw the motorcycle club patches on his jacket, Alamo was far too likely to end up in jail if he stayed in North Carolina.

This time they had a reason of sorts. He had put that pendejo in the hospital. And an uptown white boy in his expensive clothes could afford the sort of lawyers who twisted truth until it looked nothing like reality. Alamo knew it, had known it before he’d taken the first swing. Sometimes, though, a man had to stand up for a woman regardless of the cost. Zoe’s friend had no one else to stand up for her, so Alamo did what needed doing. It was that simple.

“You can’t just do that!” Zoe snapped at him when he’d walked into the little apartment they shared. “I might not be a kid, but I still don’t need my brother in the lockup.”

“He hurt Ana.”

“You are not the law, Alejandro. You wear that jacket”—she pointed at the vest with the Southern Wolves patches prominently displayed—“and you forget that you’re not above the law.”

“Lobita,” he started.

“Don’t you ‘little wolf’ me, mister!” His sister’s hands landed on their customary position on her hips. She was a tiny little thing, but she had the attitude of a dozen girls. “If you end up in jail, I’ll . . . I’ll find someone big enough to kick your ass. Then where will you be, eh?”

Alamo bowed his head, as much to hide his smile as to let her know he was listening to her chastisement.

“You call Nicky, you hear me? You find out where you can move because you’re not staying here. That boy . . . he has friends. I don’t want this to get worse.”

“Lobita . . .”

Sizzling with passion and suspense, perfect for fans of Joanna Wylde and Julie Ann Walker, the Brothers of Mayhem series revs up as a headstrong beauty faces off against an outlaw motorcycle club—and falls for the bad boy she never saw coming.
Cassidy Ryder refuses to be intimidated by anyone, even the hell-raising, hard-drinking Brothers of Mayhem. The daughter of their former president, she’s not above smashing a few heads to keep her teenage brother safe. But when Cassidy’s big mouth gets her in trouble, the only thing that saves her is some quick thinking from the Brothers’ bartender. He’s commanding and strong, and as smooth as the whiskey he pours: the ultimate temptation for a girl who swore she’d never be a biker’s plaything.

But Thorn Savalas is no ordinary biker. He’s a cop, and he’s worked too hard earning the Brothers’ trust to blow his cover over a female—even one who rocks a pair of jeans like Cassidy. The only way to protect her is by claiming she’s his old lady. Trouble is, Thorn can’t just pretend. He wants Cassidy, and every scorching touch tells him she feels the same. But acting on their hottest fantasies could leave them both exposed . . . even if nothing else has ever felt so real.

Divider_031My Thoughts

Alright this is going to be a real short review as I am at work. Anyway this was a good enough book. I did enjoy it and trust me lately I have been real picky on my MC books. So I did enjoy it but somehow I expected some more.

This story is about a women who wants her brother out of the MC life as she hated how she was treated in her past by her family and the rest of the bikers. She went looking for her brother when she caused some trouble for herself and the only one who cloud safe her was Thorn an undercover cop in the Brothers of Mayhem MC. Thorn liked her the moment he saw her but he thought of her a bit reckless around those she knows can hurt her if she disrespects them. The only way to keep her safe is to make her his old lady because in the MC it is a rule not to touch a person’s old lady.

One thing I hated about this book is how they treated there women. I mean what I have picked up is that the brother’s mayhem treated women without respect. The only one that treated women with respect was Thorn. There was also a lot going on and sometimes I had a hard time keeping up. I liked that Cassidy was so outspoken and strong when it came in protecting her brother. Running into the bar with a bat for her brother. She is loyal as hell to her brother but also annoying as hell in other times and those are the times when she was just downright stupid and reckless. I would have liked to learn a little more about Thorn because we only got a few details about him. A lot of info was just thrown together like that and I struggled to keep up with all that.

Anyway the ending kind of felt a little rushed for me so I found it hard to love this book. Anyway this book was an okay read but I needed more. I just didn’t like the guys in Brothers of Mayhem. I liked the relationship between Cassidy and Thorn but like I said I hated the club. I hope others will like this book more than I did but as you can see you will either love this book or hate it.

brothersofmayhem-logoExcerpt

Cassidy Ryder swung the bat, testing the weight and reach, as she marched around the line of motorcycles. Wrinkling her nose, she ignored the sharp, pungent smell of marijuana drifting across her path.
Huddled in the shade beneath the building’s eaves, men with greasy hair and beards puffed on tightly rolled joints and eyed her with mild curiosity. As long as she stayed away from their well-loved bikes, they’d let her move on without interference.
Her body trembled with suppressed fury. She almost wished they’d try to stop her. Anything to give her a reason to release the pressure building inside. With a snort of derision, she straightened her back and stalked into the Skull and Bones Bar.
The thumping beat of Kid Rock blasted from the speakers, competing with the rowdy conversations shaking the large, smoky room. Though mostly rural, Sand County had a law against smoking in any public establishment. In pure defiance, a blue-gray haze hovered around the dim bulbs spotlighting the long shelves of liquor and above two pool tables in the back.
She hesitated. Catching movement out of the corner of her eye, she ignored the tall, lanky bartender strolling along behind the counter and heading her way. The rest of the crowd ignored her entrance. Did they often see people carrying a bat into the place?
She didn’t care. Time for someone to listen to her.
With a swing of her whole body, she brought the bat down, sweeping several glasses from the long bar. The loud pops and tinkling of broken glasses immediately quieted the room just as Kid’s “American Bad Ass” faded out. Several of the leather-and-denim clad men stood and stepped toward her.
She lifted the bat for another swing.
“Damn it to hell! Wait!” The bartender slid over the top of the counter to stand in front of her. “What the hell are you doing?”
Speaking of badass, with his broad shoulders and tats down both arms, he’d draw anyone’s attention just by entering a room. But add in the dark hair cut tight on the sides, long on top and brushed back to his nape, he especially caught the eye of every woman in the place. She’d noticed too, but she had more important things on her mind.
Her arm muscles tensed as she pulled her weapon higher over her shoulder.
He stopped a bat length away and raised his hands. “Cassidy . . .” He hesitated as if he waited for her reaction to the name. Was she that forgettable? She’d been there several times over the last month, to drag her brother back home. When her eyes narrowed, he continued. “Whatever has you riled up, can we talk about it?”
Emphasizing each word, she pointed the bat as if it were a finger. “I came in here yesterday and asked, real polite, if you or anyone here had seen my brother. Each one of you looked me in the face and lied. This morning, I get a call, telling me he was seen yesterday, hanging out back, talking with Stonewall.” She glanced around, keeping the bartender in her peripheral view. “Where’s the bastard? I want answers about my brother’s whereabouts.” Proud of how her voice remained even and carried across the room, she jutted out her chin. What would they lie about next?
The Brothers of Mayhem Motorcycle Club never took kindly to threats. She didn’t care. Violence was the only way they would respect her, and she was prepared to do more, if that’s what it took to bring her little brother back home. Storm had never stayed gone this long.
“Put the bat down before you get hurt.” The bartender’s soft command sounded so reasonable.
Screw reasonable. She’d been fair and understanding for the last three days while she searched for Storm. Her patience had disappeared with the only member of her family worth a damn. No way would she fail him again.
“I will when you—”
Brawny arms wrapped around her chest and squeezed. She gasped for breath as someone hauled her against his chest and off her feet. The bartender grabbed the bat from her loosened grip and threw it to the side. It hit the floor with a loud clanking.
“Little girl, we don’t know where your brother’s at. We didn’t lie about that.” The deep voice of the club’s VP, Mac McGee, came from above her head as he squeezed again in warning. “Maybe I need to teach you some fucking manners.”
She squeaked from the pain, her ribs near the breaking point. With little blood circulation reaching below her waist, her kicks were no more than taps to the mountain restraining her. She pushed at the tight arms as her head dug into his sternum.
“Please,” she pleaded with a hiss of precious air.
“Mac, let her go. I’ll handle her.” The bartender rested his elbows on the countertop behind him, crossed his long legs at the ankles, and waited.
The big guy released her so quickly she barely caught herself before falling at their feet. Asshole. Taking cautious breaths in case of a cracked rib, she regained a little of her composure.
Handle her? In his dreams. Shoulders thrust back and head held up, she asked, “Where’s my brother?”
The bartender sighed in frustration. “You’re the most hardheaded woman. Mac told you yesterday, and today is no different. We have no idea where your brother is.”
Then it struck her what the big guy said a moment earlier. She turned and looked into the angry bloodshot eyes of Mac. “What did you mean when you said ‘We didn’t lie about that’? What did you lie about?”
With a shake of his massive, shaggy head, the big guy reached for her, but the bartender knocked her to the side and stepped between them, one arm out to keep her back. “Go on. I’ll take it from here.”
“Never could stand bossy old ladies,” Mac drawled with a sneer.
She leaned over the bartender’s arm and shouted, “Who are you calling old lady? I’m no one’s old lady! You old fart!” She knew what he meant, that it had nothing to do with age, but with belonging to someone. At the age of twenty-one, she refused to let anyone call her that. At sixty-one, she would damn well still refuse.
“Who would want you as their old lady, with that bitchy attitude,” Mac said, more as fact than a question. “You need your ass beaten.” Then he walked away as he raised one finger in her direction.
“Yeah, but at least I look human and not like a grizzly bear, what with all that fur on your face!” How lame.
She really needed to shut up before they got tired of her mouth. As a kid she’d grown up around surly men like Mac, but her father’s reputation had protected her from worse. Besides, what about her promise to be a good girl? Her foster mother tried her best to teach her self-control. Yet Cassidy often let her temper get the better of her. Remembering how her hissy fit had caused her brother to leave home in a huff the other night, a sharp pain roiled in her stomach.
As she opened her mouth to apologize, the bartender’s hand cupped the back of her head, clutched a handful of hair, and twisted. At the same time, his other hand covered her mouth.
“Shh,” he said softly. Concern darkened his blue eyes as he shook his head.
Bending her back, he caused her to lose balance but held her tight. Her feet remained on the floor as he aligned his body with hers, almost touching his nose to hers.
“If you don’t shut your trap, you’re going to get more than you asked for,” he whispered. “Your brother isn’t here. He’s turning eighteen in a couple days, right?” Without giving her a chance to answer, he added, “Then he’ll be an adult. At least one who can vote and die for his country. So, I think it’s in your best interest to go home. When he’s ready to talk, he’ll show up.”
She wasn’t sure why it happened. The last few days had been stressful. She wasn’t one of those girls who did it at the drop of a hat, but her eyes welled with tears.
“Ah, shit. Don’t do that,” he said between gritted teeth. He moved his hand from her mouth, pressing her cheek to a broad shoulder as he lifted her upright.
Unable to stop, she dug trembling fingers into his leather vest and sobbed.
Why is he being so nice?
The strong hand in her hair remained, but the other one rubbed and patted her back. He acted as if he had all of the time in the world while she bawled like a little kid.
“Shh. Everything will be okay.”
She glanced up and her heart skipped a beat. The guy had a gorgeous smile; there was even a dimple beneath the stubble on his face.
A gravelly voice nearby said, “Get me a beer, Thorn, before you fuck her.”
Her body stiffened.
Stonewall had arrived.

I really enjoyed this book… Trust me it’s not as dark as most MC novels that I have read but there was some nice suspense. This MC is part of the story but you get more of Lang and Lilly. This is a sweet read with MC mixed in. Lang was a great hero, I mean after he lost his parents he happily stepped up to raise his sisters. Lang was also not scared to claim Lily, he knew he wanted her and he made sure he got her. I also like Lilly a lot, she was a perfect other half for Lang and she was smart and caring.

Now what is this story about????

After the president of Lang’s MC is arrested and charged with murder; Lang finds himself the new president. While out partying with his brother, Lang see’s Lily needed to be saved from a rival MC, which he did. Lang wanted to get to know Lilly, she was different and not afraid to speak her mind. Lily needed a change so she moved to Texas, while out with a friend Lilly is saved by Lang. The attraction is so strong neither can deny it and Lilly soon finds that there is so much more to Lang than it first seemed. After a few weeks neither can forget each other and on Lilly’s first day at her new job…. Lilly and Lang met again. As you know that Lang got custody of his three sisters and since the death of his parents his oldest sister had a hard time adjusting, which is why Lilly is assigned as her new school counsellor. Scheduling a meeting with Lang to talk about his sister, what starts as a professional meeting soon turns to more. Now Lang and Lilly’s attraction and interest in each other is too strong to deny. They quickly fall in love, but Lang has a lot on his plate. Lilly never planned to fall in love everything has always been black or white but Lang has quickly torn down her walls and had shown her so much more to life.

I also liked Violetta Rand’s writing style… This book flowed really well and it was just once easy read for an MC. I was surprised at how fast I read this book. I can’t wait to see what books she comes out with next, I can’t wait to read books of the rest of the brothers in the MC. I’m also hoping I could see more of Lilly and Lang. This review is short because I’m at work but I will easy recommend this book!

EXCERPT

Corpus had its share of cases that made the national news. Mix in an outlaw bike club and the story went viral on social media within fifteen minutes.
And his sisters had access to it and had watched in horror as Uncle Jessie was escorted into court. The questions his youngest sister, Trisha, asked broke his heart. Why is Uncle Jess chained up like an animal? Did he do something bad? Will we ever see him again? Are you going away too?
It was all he could do to hold himself back and not follow the prosecutor to her car and give the bitch a Texas-sized welcome—one she’d never forget. He smoked his Marlboro down to the filter and tossed it on the ground. The status quo didn’t satisfy Lang anymore. He wanted more, or less, depending on what perspective he took. More for his family, less heat from the cops.
“Lang.”
Several Brothers had spent the afternoon in court waiting for Jess to be arraigned. Merritt approached, wearing a frown on his bearded face. “He’s fucked,” he commented, shaking his head. “Racketeering, witness tampering, and murder.”
“All true,” Lang confirmed. Why lie out of earshot? “He just got caught.”
“The club can’t afford another shakedown,” Merritt said.
Lang agreed. Time to remind members that representing the club didn’t mean attracting negative publicity. Jess’s lax leadership hadn’t helped. “First line of business,” Lang started. “Fast-tracking Vincent and Merk. Time to patch out.”
“You won’t get any arguments from me—but Patrick, Sampson, and Moco might not agree.”
Lang already knew he’d meet with some resistance. Appointing officers was the sole right of the president. What the charter needed most was new blood. Men with a different perspective. Like any business, the club had centralized power. All men weren’t created equal. Respect was given first, then earned, just like the fucking patches on his back. He fully intended to teach his Brothers the difference.
Charter rules were chiseled in stone like the Ten Commandments. And if anyone disagreed, they’d lose their membership, maybe their right to breathe.
Eventually the other Brothers filed out of the building. Lang imagined they looked out of place standing together in the middle of the afternoon wearing leathers and combat boots. Unlike attorneys and their clients shuffling in and out in their Sunday best, the Sons of Odin always wore their cuts whenever they represented the club, regardless of the venue.
The stares and whispers their presence evoked inspired Patrick and Sampson to retaliate. They flipped off a couple in the entryway and then Patrick lit a joint, blowing the acrid smoke in their direction.
“Contact high,” he laughed at them. “Get the fucking corncobs out of your asses.”
“Hey.” Lang tapped his shoulder angrily. This was a perfect example of the juvenile mentality he planned on eradicating. “Not the time or place. We already have a PR nightmare on our hands.”
The Corpus Christi elite wanted clubs like the Sons of Odin dismantled, but average residents were often the beneficiaries of the generosity of the club. It was always the first to donate when disaster struck the city, and even the paper occasionally touted the members as heroes.
Keeping club image in mind, Lang knew when enough was enough. “Let’s go,” he commanded, leading them to the far side of the parking lot, where their Harleys were lined up like tanks.

goodreads

Can a scorching affair with a bohemian beauty tame a motorcycle man with a dark side? Rachael Johns takes the wheel in the sexy series co-written with Megan Crane, Jackie Ashenden, and Maisey Yates.

Travis “Cash” Sinclair values only two things from his days with the Deacons of Bourbon Street: his prized Harley Davidson and the man who gave it to him. But now Priest Lombard is gone, and Cash has inherited the Deacons’ clubhouse—not to mentions its unexpected tenant. She’s exactly the type of woman he tries to avoid: all incense and art, with a sharp tongue that promises trouble. So why does Cash want to push aside those flowing skirts and lose himself between her legs?

Billie Taylor fled a bad marriage to start a new life among the grit and glamour of the French Quarter. She refuses to let another man distract her from her dreams, especially an outlaw biker with nothing to offer except hot sex and an eviction notice. Cash is dangerous, with an untamed streak he tries desperately to conceal. He drives Billie wild, sending her too close to the edge for her own good. And she won’t fall under his spell—or into his bed—without a fight.

Now this is the second book in the Deacons of Bourbon Street series and I liked this book so much more than the previous book. It was fun, sexy and suck a quick read. This book can obviously read as a standalone but I would recommend you read the first novel first!

Travis “Cash” Sinclair left Bourbon Street all those years ago and never looked back. That was until the president of the Deacons died in a motorcycle accident, to say his good byes. What should have been just a quick stay turns into weeks after he learns that he and his “brothers” each got a piece of the clubhouse that was willed to them. Cash wants to sell the property as soon as possible and head back home. He does not want anything to do with the biker life anymore, he is now a successful business man who wears suits instead of leathers but things change after he goes back to the old clubhouse to check things out. Let me tell you surprise does not even cover how he feels at what happened to the old clubhouse. He saw it turned into a funky art gallery but what surprises him the most is the owner of the lovely art gallery.

Billie was not born in NOLA but actually she ended up there after fleeing a bad marriage. She always dreamed of living in Nola and owning her own art gallery amidst the bright buildings, colourful array of people and the legends. She is living her dreams, well that is until Travis “Cash” Sinclair struts into her gallery. Cash is sexy, bossy and as you know one of the original bikers of the Deacons of Bourbon Street. Then she also finds out he is her landlord and he plans on selling the gallery Billie has started. Billie is obviously stunned but she is not as stunned until he announces he is her new roommate while in town. Billie refuses to give up her gallery without a fight but her gallery might not be the only this she may loses with a man like Cash.

These characters were explosive together which made for a very enjoyable read and I would love to reread it.

The New York Times bestselling author of Reaper’s Stand is back in her “uber-alpha rough world of MCs”* as one woman’s future is rocked by the man whose hardcore past could destroy her…

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

I’ve been waiting for Painter’s story for so long! You know I loved this book so much, like I loved all of Joanna Wylde’s books. I love all these characters and I’ve been following this series from the beginning. Luckily this book can also be read as a standalone so you do not need to worry if you haven’t read the other books in this series. This series always has a great and balanced mix of raw, steamy and sweet. Though this book had less of the sweet and more of the rough and raw but I enjoyed the second chance of romance.

Let me tell you the saying “there’s a fine line between love and hate” works wonderfully into this book! What surprises me the most of this book was the timeline of this story. The book starts with Mel and Painter at the club house of the Silver Bastards. Where Painter got pissed that Mel came into the club house with another biker, but she was supposed to stay away from bikers. Then we jump back 5 years with Painter and Puck in prison after saving Jessica from the cartel where he and Mel are writing letters to each other but they have never even so much as kissed. We got to see the build-up between Mel and Painter leading up to Izzy’s arrival, but it was a long slow build up with plenty of LUST before the pent up lust explodes.

Now Levi “Painter” Brooks had a dysfunctional and rough childhood. He was bounced around in foster care, and in and out of juvenile hall at a young age. Then, one day, he met one of the members of the Reapers MC Club, who took him under his wing and made him part of the brotherhood. The Reapers are the only family that Painter has ever known. The only things that matter to him are his brothers and his artwork; well that is until he meets Melanie. They spend a short time as friends and then Painter had to go to prison for a year. Like I said before they were writing letters to each other and develop a crush on each other. Yet when Painter return home, he keeps his distance from her because he thinks she deserves better. He does not want to drag her down.

Now Mel starts of as sweet and a little bit innocent but she does not lack a backbone and isn’t afraid to call Painter on the mixed signals he constantly sends her way. Now who is Mel? Melanie is extremely close to London and her niece, Jessica. We met London, Jessica and Mel in Reaper’s Stand. London is in a serious relationship with “Picnic,” The Reapers President. Therefore Painter found himself in close proximity with one another time and time again. Even though Painter tries staying away from Mel, which just proves to be impossible. Painter was a gigantic jerk for the majority of the time that we have known him. The girls Em, Kit and Jess all repeatedly warn Mel away from him. He does not deny what they have told her and lays it out for Mel. She was not put off from his honesty and eventually they gave into the chemistry.  As these two fall in love, the possibility of them having a relationship is tested repeatedly. Mel needs to be a top priority to Painter, and not second to the club. Painter kept putting himself in bad situations and risking himself and Melanie’s trust.

Mel doesn’t understand the MC world like some of the other women who have grown up in the life and understands the bond between the brothers and the code between the brothers that comes with the patch. My only complaint about the story is that they spend 80% of the book fighting and without the benefit of makeup sex.

Now there are several potential new relationships presented of other characters in this book and it seems that Gage will be the next to find his Old Lady. 😛 Based on the tasty glimpse we get at the end of Reapers Fall. Now let me tell you Reaper’s Fall was full of hot alpha males, dangerous enemies and plot twists. The pacing of the story was rapid, as this story was full of suspense, rough and raw sexiness. Ms. Wylde writes the best biker romance and I love all her stories and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next!

“You want to watch a movie or something?” she asked, nodding toward the TV. I had a decent one, too. Giant-ass flat-screen—homecoming present from the club.“Sure,” I said, reaching for the remote. I didn’t have cable, but Ruger had set up some kind of box thingie for me so I could stream shit. “Whatcha in the mood for?”

“Not horror,” she said quickly, and I laughed again, remembering that first evening I’d spent with her at Pic’s house. She’d been so young and scared and vulnerable . . . I’d wanted to eat her up.

I still wanted to eat her.

“I can’t believe that you and Puck were supposed to be watching over me, and then you put in a slasher movie. That’s not how you make a girl feel safe.”

“No horror,” I agreed, although the thought of holding her for a couple hours while she was scared shitless appealed way more than it should. Watch it, asshole. “How about Star Wars?”

“You like Star Wars?”

I shrugged. “Everyone likes Star Wars. You know, I’m pretty damned sure Han Solo was a biker.”

She giggled. “You mean, like a space biker?”

“See, when you say it like that it sounds stupid.”

“I wanted to be Princess Leia. She’s badass,” she said, taking a deep drink of her beer. I watched as her lips wrapped around the neck, her throat swallowing. Oh fuck, that was good. She set the beer down on the coffee table with a clink, then let loose with the biggest burp I’d ever heard.

“Fucking hell,” I said, stunned. “I didn’t think girls could burp like that. Shit. Impressive, Mel. Very impressive.”

She grinned at me.

“We’re friends,” she told me. “And friends don’t need to worry about stuff like that. Let me guess—you’ve never had a female friend before?”

“Not really,” I admitted. “I’m think I’m a little scared.”

Scared and turned on, which was weird.

“You should be. I can do the whole alphabet.”

Damn. I kinda wanted to see that.

efore I can rip Mason’s judgmental ass a new one, she pipes up, “Wow. That was an asshole move.” All eyes land on Alison and all three men appear thoroughly confused.

I lower my hand to my hip and the other out in front of me. “Okay, hold up right there.” I aim at Mason, “Jake here, looks all of eighteen years old. I’m no cougar. So you can take your judgment and shove it right up your ass.”

“Seriously?” Ali’s voice cracks through the lasers of annoyance I’m shooting into Mason.

Amused, she points between Jake and I. “You actually thought Lindsey would bring a guy home? To her place?” Ali scoffs and Mason grimaces while scrubbing the stubble shadowing his face, obviously regretting his insinuation now.

Roamyn turns to Ali accusingly. “Wait, so he was with you then?”

“Well, yeah, he sure wasn’t screwing Miss Uptight over here.” She nods in my direction.

I roll my eyes. “Real mature, Alison.”

“Um, excuse me but–”

“What?” Cutting Jake off, four sets of pissed off eyes glare at him.

He shrinks back. “Look, if I can just grab my wallet, I’ll get out of your hair.”

“I’ll get it, hold on,” Ali murmurs as she disappears down the hall.

What are you currently reading?

download18366077I9781101887226‘m reading a few books right now because I’m finding it real hard to choose what I wish to read. So right now I’m reading these for books at a time. How I do that is by reading a chapter at a time then to the other book and so on. IMG_1178So I’m reading the second book of the Deacons of Bourbon Street MC which is Fire Me Up. I’m 42% into that book. Then I’m only 27% into Persuasion and Taint. Also I’m 26% into Reaper’s Fall which I’m reading for my blog tour. I do know I love reading Joanna Wylde’s MC books!

What did you recently finish reading?

No if you notice I’ve read a lot of books last week. I reviewed six books last week and I finished another book this weekend which I need to review. So I’ve read Chasing Olivia and Tempting Rowan by Micalea Smeltzer. Then I finished the first book of The Deacons of Bourbon Street …. Make you Burn by Megan Crane. I read Aideen in one day and trust me I adored that book so much!! I love all of L.A. Casey’s books!!! Then I read something paranormal as well…. Unspoken by C.C. Hunter the last book in that series and download (1)A Demon’s Dark Embrace by Amelia Hutchins; I still need to review that book. One thing I can say about that book is that I loved Ristan and I can’t wait to read more from this author! Then lastly I also read Easy Melody by Kristen Proby….. I love this author and If you see my review I adored this book and I loved that the  With You in Seattle characters made a cameo.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Okay so I decided to read Compromising Her Position and Tryst for my blog tour at the beginning of December. I will also read Wicked White and Wicked Reunion just because I want to. Ir might change but this is what I really need and want to read.

What are your answers to those questions? I would love to know, leave me a comment to your post!

Meet the Deacons of Bourbon Street, bad boy bikers who are hell on wheels—and heaven between the sheets. Megan Crane revs up an irresistible new series co-written with Rachael Johns, Jackie Ashenden, and Maisey Yates.

Sean “Ajax” Harding’s oaths are inked into his skin. Once second-in-command of the Deacons of Bourbon Street motorcycle club, he left New Orleans to protect the brotherhood, and only the death of his beloved mentor, Priest Lombard, could lure him back. Walking into the old hangout gives him a familiar thrill—especially when he gets an eyeful of the bar’s delectable new owner. A wild ride with her is just the welcome Ajax needs. Then he realizes that she’s Priest’s daughter, all grown up and totally off limits.

Sophie Lombard loved her father, not his lifestyle. She’s done with bikers . . . until Ajax roars into town—arrogant, tough, and sexy as ever. And although he treats her like the Catholic schoolgirl he once knew, Sophie’s daydreams tend to revolve around sin. With the very real possibility of heartbreak looming, Sophie knows better than to get too close to an outlaw. But every touch from Ajax is steamier than the Louisiana bayou—and heat like this may just be worth getting burned.

Praise for Make You Burn

Her style was so sultry and thick that I could almost feel the sweat of the bayou and the pulse of Bourbon Street as I read. I sunk deep into the story and enjoyed every minute of it.”Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

I don’t easily read a new MC series by authors I never read before. I’m extremely picky when it comes to reading MC books so I was very worried when I started with this book. This series is written by a few different authors. I have to say this is the first time I read a book by this author. I really liked Ajax, but I did not love him. Ajax finds himself back to his hometown of New Orleans after the President of his MC passed away. That is after he was exiled from ten years by said president. I can definitely say that Ajax is al take charge, hot, sexy, alpha male.

I really enjoyed Sophie’s character. Now she’s the daughter of the former president of the MC. She’s also independent, strong, and has just about enough sass. She can dish it out as well as take it. Now this book as a real nice start to the Deacons of Bourbon Street. I think the only thing disappointing was when the story line picked up at one point, with the former president death might not be an accident, then it just kind of dropped off. I mean that was really disappointing. I wanted to know if he was really killed and who did it. When will we find this out because I’m not sure it will be explored further in this series? I also didn’t like the unanswered question of why the four best members of the MC got exiled all those years ago.

Make You Burn is almost all about the steamy, hot relationship between Ajax and Sophie. I kept hoping for more info on the club and that the plot was more developed. This book is an okay start for the series and I’m hoping the next book brings, at least some answers. This book just needed more for me!

EXCERPT
Mel,You know, I write these fuckin’ letters to you, but they’re fake. I ask about your friends and your school and whether you’re meeting people. It’s bullshit, Mel.

Here’s my reality.

Yesterday I stabbed someone before he could stab me. Puck and I sold some shit to a bunch of white supremacists and we turned around and sold the same damned thing to some Mexicans. We had pudding with our dinner for dessert.

Then I jacked off three times thinking about you.
Those are the highlights. Like a fairy tale, right? Remembering you keeps me going, which makes no fucking sense at all. I hardly touched you. I still think about what you smelled like when you sat next to me on the couch, though. You were just this little thing and you shivered under my arm. I know you were scared of the movie and I could’ve picked something else, but I wanted the excuse to hold you.

That’s when I started thinking seriously about us fucking.

I had this vision of shoving you into the cushions face- first, then ripping down your jeans and pushing so deep you’d feel it in the back of your throat. That’s the kind of guy I am, Mel, and that’s why you should stay the fuck away from me.

You give me the chance, I’ll pin you down and keep pumping no matter how hard you try to get away. I dream about it every night, I jerk off to it, and today I gave serious thought to killing a man because he has the same fantasies about you as me. That first night, I promised London I wouldn’t touch you, but my cock had already been hard for hours. Good thing she showed up when she did—saved your ass. How’s that for luck?

When I took you to dinner, I was going to be good. Tried to be good. I know you didn’t understand why I asked you out or what it meant. They needed you out of the way, Mel. That was my job—to keep you busy. And I promised London I wouldn’t pull shit on you but she’d been lying to us all along and I kept wondering if that meant my promise didn’t count anymore.

Pretty damned sure it hasn’t counted for a while now.

You were talking and smiling and blushing. My dick was so stiff it nearly snapped in half when I tried to stand up. Took everything I had not to throw you on my bike and ride off with you . . . I want to tie you up and come in your ass and shove my cock down your throat until you choke. I want your hair in little-girl pigtails so I can hold on tight while I fuck your face. I want you to cry and scream and give me everything. I want to fucking OWN you. How’s that for reality, Mel? You still want my advice about boys?

I’m coming home soon. You should run away while you still can, Mel. I’ll make you dirty, so dirty you’ll never be clean again. I’ll make you pay me back the hard way. You think you’re all grown up, but you’re not. There’s so much I could teach you . . . do to you. Jesus, if you only knew, you’d never write to me again.

You should move to Alaska.
Change your name.
Good luck, though, because I’ll find you and take you and—

Fucking hell.

I dropped my pencil, wondering why I’d thought this was a good idea. I wasn’t going to send it, of course. I’d send her some friendly little note and tell her she should be dating and having fun. But some part of me thought writing my real thoughts out might fix my obsession. Instead my dick was like a rock. Again.

Still.

Always.

“What’s your damage, woman?”“What?” she snaps.

“You stupid? That it? Bringing a guy you dunno to your home? A guy who’s VP of a MC you call your enemy and shit?”

She smirks. “I have my reasons. Why? Are you planning on roughing me up?”

Roughing her up? If anyone else spouted the shit she’s been, disrespecting me and the club like that, wouldn’t be a question ‘bout it. Woulda been roughed up good. A done deal. But I don’t beat on women. Some of the brothers might not respect that line, but I do. Ain’t never laid my hands on a woman that way and I ain’t never gonna. Ain’t my father.

But I do wanna lay my hands on her in another way. The second she started mouthing off to me earlier, I was down for that. Had a permanent hard on since she threatened to pull her gun on me.

Talk ‘bout throwing me through a loop. Such a demented response. Know she meant business, but my dick was in the driving seat. If it’d come down to it, I probably woulda let her pull the damn thing just for the sick thrill of seeing a sight like it.

I ain’t used to women like her. In the club, they know their fucking place and shit. But this bitch ain’t nothing like them. Been messing with me all over the place since I walked into that diner. That smart mouth of hers should piss me off big time. It does, but that ain’t the end of the story. It fucking turns me on too. Fucking hot shit.

It don’t help that she’s such a fine piece of ass. Tight little body. Perky tits that’d make a sweet handful. Her silky dark brown hair that I wanna fist my hands in and tug on hard. And those deep blue eyes of hers? Fucking sexy as sin.

Yeah, she hates bikers. But I ain’t never let hatred get in the way of a good fuck. And while I’m stuck in this hell hole of a city on club business, I got time to play.

“Rough you up, huh? That what you want—my hands on you, babe?”

“I’ll break your fingers,” she fires back.

But it’s all bullshit. I ain’t blind. I see her blushing, crossing her legs all awkward and shit. She’s turned on. Mmm, yeah. I bet she’s already warm and wet between her thighs.

She stands up, tryin’ to hide it. Nice try, babe.

“Tell me what you know about Skinner’s plans.”

“Like I said; looks like he wants to set up shop here.”

“And that concerns Black Thorns how? This isn’t your territory.”

“Reirdon’s right next door to Brockford, so yeah, it concerns us, babe.”

She starts pacing slowly as she takes my words in. “All right,” she says finally, walking over to me where I’m lounging on the other couch. She stops in front of me, her arms still folded over her chest, pushing her sweet tits up and giving me a hell of a view.

“This is how it’s gonna work here. You tell me what you know. Give me all the intel you have on this latest initiative of theirs and I’ll take care of it.”

I scoff. “Ain’t happening.”

“Yes it is. I’ll take it from there,” she insists.

That’s it! This bitch dunno when to back down. Been holding back so far, thinking playing nice is the right way to go cuz she’s a woman, a tiny little thing. But to hell with that. Ain’t working. She’s a fucking ball buster and dunno when to back down. ‘Bout to fucking show her. Make her back down.

Grabbing her hips, I pull her down onto the couch, forcing her under me. She fights me—with her fists—no nails like most bitches would use. Nah, she’s all punches and kicks. Damn. Just getting me harder, babe. I grunt as her steel toe boots scrape my shins. She might be feisty, but she ain’t got the weight or muscle I got to back it up. I pin her legs with mine and capture her fists with one hand, pressing ‘em to her tits ‘til she’s at my mercy.

She grins at me then.

What the fuck? Weren’t expecting that.

Before I can figure out her game, she shows me, rolling her hips. I grunt as her pussy rubs against my rock hard dick. Fucking hell. She’s messing with me.

“So easy,” she says as she does it again, driving me insane.

“Stop,” I growl at her.

“Why?” she taunts. “It’s clearly what you want. Aww…got a hard on for me, biker boy?”

She wants to play, we’ll play. I slide my hand inside her jeans so quickly that all she can do is gasp. My fingers brush her panties and I smile to myself. Wet. Soaking wet. “Sure you hate bikers, babe? Cuz, your pussy’s craving this biker’s dick.”

“You’re disgusting,” she hisses.

Funny thing is, she don’t make no attempt to pull my hand outta her tight little jeans.

“Yeah?” I slide a finger underneath the lacy fabric of her panties and tease her drenched pussy. “I think you like that. Down and dirty.”

She bites her lip and shakes her head, tryin’ to fight it.

But I got all the proof I need on my fingers.

Our eyes lock and the heat between us almost makes me stop breathing. So fucking intense.

Jesus, I ain’t never felt nothing like it. My dick’s straining against my jeans painfully now. I’m right on the goddamn edge here.

I tease her pussy some more, and lean into her, my breath hot on her neck. “Want me to fuck you?”

She grinds against my fingers, answering me silently before panting, “Yes. But no more foreplay.”

“What?” I ask as I let go of her hands and rip open her jeans, roughly tugging ‘em down her legs.

“I want your dick, not your fingers,” she tells me.

“Music to my fucking ears, babe.”

I shake off my cut. I pull a condom outta the back pocket of my jeans, unbuckle the damn things in record time and sheath my throbbing dick.

I sink into her slowly, groaning at the feel of such a tight fucking pussy. Been a long-assed time since I’ve felt anything like this. The sluts that hang ‘round the clubhouse are all so damn loose. Nothing like this. Holy fucking shit. Can’t fucking move inside her. Her grip’s outta this world.

I look down at her and she’s got her head thrown back, her eyes closed as she licks her lips. It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve even seen. Shit. That thought unsettles me. Get a grip, asshole.

“Hold my hands,” she says, her eyes snapping open. “Hold my hands down,” she presses when I don’t answer fast enough. It’s kinda hard to focus when I’m tryin’ to fight every instinct to pound her into the couch. Can’t ‘til she adjusts to my size. She’d probably pull her gun and shoot me for that.

I grab her wrists and slam ‘em into the couch above her head. Don’t take long before I feel her relax ‘round me. Mmm. Rough gets her off.

“Yes,” she moans out.

And that’s it. I’m done. I pull out almost all the way and then slam back in hard. She curses like a sailor as I pound her so fucking hard the couch moves.

“Name?” she pants at me.

“Neil,” I utter without thinking. My brain’s on lockdown right now. No blood flowing there. “Neil Barron.”

“Barron?” she questions. There’s an edge in her voice.

Fuck that. No more talking. I don’t bother responding. I lean into her, my tongue tasting the side of her neck. I suck hard, hard enough to leave a mark.

Next thing I know, she’s kicking me and yelling for me to get off her.

What the fuck?

“Get off me,” she orders.

“Please tell me you’re fucking about, babe.”

“No. Get off me. Now,” she shrieks. “Now! Pull out!”

As soon as I pull out and lift my weight off her, she scrambles off the couch, hastily pulling on her jeans. She’s white as a damn sheet.

“You’re related to Skinner. Pete Barron? The President of the Devil’s Mavericks is your family?”

Wow, she’s really freaked out, basically hysterical. “Why?” What’s the story here?

“Answer me!” she screams.

“We’re related, yeah.” Christ, even admitting the connection repulses me.

“What…who…who is he to you exactly? A distant relative?” she asks, way too hopeful ‘bout the distant part.

I pocket the condom, zip up my jeans and shrug my cut back on. “No,” I tell her, forcing myself to say the words I fucking hate admitting on my best days. “I’m his son.”

Her eyes go wide. “Oh God. I’m gonna be sick.” She grabs her mouth and runs from the room into the kitchen. A second later, I hear her puking her guts up.

What the fuck’s going on here?
