Beckett Murda hates to dwell on the past. But his investigation into the ambush that killed half his Special Forces team and ended his Army career gives him little choice. Just when his team learns how powerful their enemies are, hard-ass Beckett encounters the biggest complication yet—seductive, feisty Katherine Rixey.

A tough, stubborn prosecutor, Kat visits her brothers’ Hard Ink Tattoo following a bad break-up—and finds herself staring down the barrel of a stranger’s gun. Beckett is hard-bodied and sexy as hell, but he’s also the most infuriating man ever. Worse, Kat’s brothers are at war with criminals her office is investigating. When Kat joins the fight, she lands straight in Beckett’s sights—and his arms. Not to mention their enemies’ crosshairs.

Now Beckett and Kat must set aside their differences to work together, because finding love is never easy, and getting justice is hard to the end…

IMG_0264I loved this book so much so that the first thing  I did is grab my cell to write this review! It had just the right amount of Suspence and romance, it was sexy, steamy, hot and just downright sweet! I’ve read nearly all off Laura’s book that this book was just as great as the others! This book was the perfect end to an amazing series with the sweetest HEA! If you haven’t read the first books in the series starting with Hard As it Gets then you have to read it before you decide to read this book since the series focuses on the five guys trying to clear there names for an event that happened to them when they where in the army together. We followed the guys from Hard Ink through action, danger and mystery get get a well deserved HEA. And in the very book Laura Kaye pulls out all the stops. I can tell you Kat and Beckett are one of my favorite couples in this series maybe because of the way they met and acted around each other in the beginning.

“Glad he’s not,” Charlie said, humor and embarrassment mixed in his voice. He crossed his arms. “He’d probably wear his ‘I’ve got a pole you can dance on’ T-shirt just to spite me.”
Marz burst out laughing. “Charlie Merritt! I didn’t know you had that in you,” he managed, still laughing.
Charlie gave Beckett a Did he really just say that? look, his embarrassment easing in favor of amusement.“Dude. Think about what you just said and remember you’re talking to a gay man.”

They fight like cats and dogs which leads up to some smoking hot sexy time! I can certainly tell you the series got hotter by each book, this book being the hottest of them all. Beckett is know in the group as the quite one and when I look at Kat the first I can say she is all outspoken. She is the total opposite to Beckett. Beckett comes off as an ass but it’s all the mask he wears to hide all his emotions and everything that goes on in his head. But when is his soft and sweet to Kat it just melts my heart and his past just want to make me hug him! (But obviously I cant he is after all a fictional character!) Laura’s trade mark humor is still running full swing in this book and I love it because it balances out the dark and the light in that book. You can tell what’s not to like with an tough as nails alpha male with a heart of gold who goes through a lot of struggle to get over his low self-esteem and smart, sassy and fierce heroine that has to go through her own struggle herself. I loved how strong Kat is and how she would do everything she can to help her brothers even risk her career  with all those illegal things the guys did. I also love that Kat has such a great heart and is fiercely protective with those she loves.

“Stay,” he said, closing his arms around her back. He pulled her in tight.
And as they stood in the dark holding each other, Beckett had a goddamned ridiculous realization. He could count the number of people who had hugged him before this moment on one finger—Becca, when she’d apologized to him for what they’d all thought her father had done. Before that, Beckett couldn’t ever remember being hugged. Not once.

How I felt at the end of the book, at the end of the series was absolute joy because of the amazing HEA! I cannot wait to read the spin-off series that will focus on the Raven motorcycle gang that came into the series in the beginning to help the Hard Ink boys to stop the bad guys. Here I’m hoping that there would be some cameos from the guys and that lovely girls. This is a great way to end the series but I need more…..

”Don’t let me hurt you. Never let me hurt you, Angel. Promise me.”

REVIEW: Up in Smoke (Crossing The Line #2)

Up in SmokeUp in Smoke by Tessa Bailey
Crossing The Line #2
Publication:June 23 2015
Genre:Contemporary Romance, Adult Fiction, Milatary, Romance, Suspense,Romantic Suspense

Never start a fire you can’t control…

Connor Bannon is supposed to be dead. Dishonorably discharged from the Navy SEALs, he’s spent the last two years working as a street enforcer in Brooklyn for his cousin’s crime ring. Through a twist of fate, he’s now in Chicago, working undercover to bust criminals. But when a cute little arsonist joins the team—all combat boots, tiny jean shorts, and hot-pink hair—Connor’s notorious iron control slips.

Erin “she’s getting away” O’Dea knows two things. She hates authority. And… Nope, that’s it. When she’s forced to operate on the “right” side of the law, her fear of being confined and controlled blazes to the surface. The last thing she expects is a control freak like Connor to soothe her when she needs it most. Worse, something behind the sexy ex-soldier’s eyes ignites a dangerous inferno of desire. One that invites Erin to play with fire. And one that could get them both killed…

This book was fast paced, sexy and hot! Tessa Bailey is one amazing author when it comes to writing sexy, hot, swoon worthy, protective alpha males and snarky, fierce females! Though I needed a little more suspense into this book!

“I didn’t say I couldn’t touch.” She gripped the collar of his shirt and dragged him forward, bringing their mouths an inch apart. “Just you.” A muscle ticked in his jaw. “I’ll make you beg for my goddamn hands on you.”

This book is about a group of cons who got together to work with a detective named Derek. All these guys joined this group to get a better life for themselves and those they love. Erin is one of the best escape artist, she does not ever want to feel trapped again in her life so that is why she made sure she knows how to escape everything. Erin hated being touched, no one was aloud to touch her without her actually having a full blown panic attack and for someone like Connor who is a dominate man was very hard for him not to touch her but somehow he made it work. Connor is a rough around the edges guy but in this book you saw a lot of the sweet side of Connor – case in point with the orange juice and the Skydeck tower.

“I haven’t been in the same room as you, Erin, when my cock wasn’t rock hard and ready to fuck. You know it, too. You know I want to plant it deep inside you. Watch you shift around trying to get used to being crammed so motherfucking tight.” His pupils were dilated, chest rising and falling unevenly. Breathtaking man. Burn for me. “I’m hard right now just thinking about what you’re hiding under those shorts. I want to lick all of it. I want to bite and fuck it. If you think I can survive this way all day, all night, you have overestimated me.”

Each character in this book brings a certain skill set to to the table and it made this book so much more interesting and a much more fun read. With that said I still would have loved to read more Suspence! I also needed a little more of Connor and Erin outside the foreplay and sexy times that made the bulk of their relationship in this book. I needed a little more balance with the sexy time but this book still deserves my 5+ rating! I loved seeing Bowen and Sera but what I loved more was reading about Ginger and Derek! I am looking forward to read more about Polly and Austin! Bailey brings a A game when it comes to dirty-talking and all that hot, sexy times!

“You won’t let me touch you, Erin? You sure as hell better ride me rough for the both of us.” He gave an upward thrust of his hips. “My cock is big and angry because you made it that way. That makes it your responsibility. Move.”

highres-MJB_5140.jpgTessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband of seven years and three-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

*Interconnected Stand Alone*

Twenty-Four hours before we were to be married–I offered to shoot her.

Ten hours before our wedding–I made a mockery of her dying wish.

Five hours before we were going to say our vows–I promised I’d never love her.

One hour before I said I do–I vowed I’d never shed a tear over her death.

But the minute we were pronounced man and wife–I knew.

I’d only use my gun to protect her.

I’d give my life for hers.

I’d cry.

And I would, most definitely, lose my heart, to a dying girl—a girl who by all accounts should have never been mine in the first place.

I always believed the mafia would be my end game–where I’d lose my heart, while it claimed my soul. I could have never imagined. It would be my redemption.

Or the beginning of something beautiful.

The beginning of her.

The end of us.

A path to revenge…

Special Agent Jax Barlow understands the bond of love and he plans to use it to get justice. Nick and Sasha will do anything to rewrite their past. He’s counting on that to bring them down.

Wasted Lust is a standalone full-length romantic suspense filled with lies, secrets, and the power of redemption by the New York Times bestselling author, JA Huss.

I’m not a player. I know there are girls out there who do this kind of thing for a living. They scout out prospective husbands. Dress up, put on a show, try to hook one with the bait.
I have no bait. I’m cute—not sophisticated like my mom’s friend Rook, or badass like her friend Veronica, or even smart and sassy like my mom, but cute. A Smurf, they used to call me. And those ladies are the only real role models I ever had growing up. That’s it. The extent of my wily ways with men come from half-ass copy-catting people who have more game in their pinky fingers than I have in my whole body.
So I’m at a complete loss here. Because Jax insists on treating me like a woman. And I’ve spent a good number of years trying to avoid this kind of scenario. The kind that sweeps you off your feet. The kind that jumpstarts your heart and makes it hum in a way you never thought possible. The kind that makes you doubt all those pledges you made to yourself through the years.
I will never love again. I will never give my heart to a man. I will never have to endure the crushing reality that comes after the only person I ever wanted to be with practically begged me to forget about him.
I tried it, it just didn’t work. I can’t just erase my first crush. I can’t just throw away the one thing I held onto after my father died. I kept the boys at bay all during high school. I didn’t even lose my virginity until my first year of college. Ford made sure of that. The memory of his crazy overprotective antics as I grew up make me smile.
So I don’t have much experience.
But Jax is a player, I can see that now. He’s got me wound up tight. My head is pounding with the possibilities he comes with.
Sex being one of them. I have not had sex in over two years. And I’m not one of those girls who go for a toy at the first hint of a dry spell. After two years though, I’m considering that option.
But now Jax is here. Kissing me. Making my whole body tingle. Awakening the desire I’ve pent up for so long.
“Are you afraid of planes, Sasha?”
I look over at Jax. “What?”
“Does landing bother you?”
“No,” I say, confused. “Why?”
“You’re squeezing my hand so hard, you might be cutting off my circulation.”

“I still feel dizzy.”
“Come here,” he says, pulling me into his lap and repositioning me so my head is cradled in the crook of his arm. “Put your feet up on the seat and just rest. It’s a good hour drive to where we’re going.”
I could resist. He’s not entirely trustworthy. And he’s a stalker. That’s pretty creepy. I wonder how deep that obsession goes. I wonder if it’s safe to even be in this car with him.
But his embrace feels too good to make him stop.
My dress was not made for being cradled in a man’s arms. Or maybe it was? Because the slits up each side bare my thighs, and the heat of his hand on my skin stirs up the longing I’ve been pushing away for years, making me shut my eyes.
His fingers stroke me gently, back and forth across the top of my thigh. It feels so damn good, I lose myself in the pleasure. I lean into him and his hand drops down between my thighs, making me gasp.
“Sorry,” he says, removing the offending hand.
I reach out and place his hand back where it was. “Don’t stop touching me. Please. It feels good. I don’t get a lot of intimate interaction anymore.”
My eyes are still closed when I say this to him, but the ensuing silence and the tenseness of his hand on my skin—his hesitant touch—forces me to open them. It forces me to seek him out.
And I guess he wins, doesn’t he? He’s got me right where he needs me. Wanting more as I gaze up into his eyes.
“Pull your dress up, Sasha.”
I wasn’t expecting that command. But it absolutely is a command. He’ll give me what I’m asking for, but he won’t give it away for free.
“Do it,” he says. “You’ve been pushing me away all day. You’ve complained about my kisses and threatened to break my fingers. And now you’re here in my lap. Vulnerable and needy. So if this is what you really want, you need to participate. I won’t force you to succumb. I won’t take advantage of your longing for Nick, or your very bad day, or the panic that seems overwhelming. If you want me, show me.”
So I do. I do it without thinking or rationalizing. I just want it. My hand reaches for the silky fabric of my dress all bunched between my legs, and I pull it up. Inch by inch, until the coolness of the air sweeps across my lace panties.
He licks his lips as he watches.
The heat I feel is immediate.
“What should I do now?” I ask.
His hand slides up my inner thigh and the wetness gathers in a pool between my legs. “Open your legs.”
I swallow hard as the request sinks in. I want to obey. So badly. I want him to fix everything that is wrong with this day, erasing the shame of my failure at school and the haunting regrets I have from the past by fucking me in this car.

Nick is an idiot.
But I can’t fault him for it. If he had realized Sasha’s true worth—aside from killing and secret information—she’d still be his. She’d probably be dead because of it too.
My hatred for him dims a little. I will never like that man. Ever. But he left Sasha for a reason, I think. He left her because she was too good for him. She was pure and he was corrupt. I have a feeling that leaving her behind was as purposeful a move as any of the others he’s made throughout the years.
But why?
Does he love her? Is she the missing woman? She can’t be. Sasha freely admits she has not heard from or talked to him in a decade and I believe her.
So who is the woman who lured him back to the States six years ago? Sasha would’ve been just graduating high school. Her passport shows she was in New Zealand with her family that summer after graduation. So if he didn’t come to see her, then who?
This mystery has plagued me for years. Why does one of the FBI’s most wanted criminals leave Central America and come back to the US when he’s got a powerful position in a Honduran gang to protect him at home?
Why risk it?
For the job?
No. It can’t be that simple. Nothing about this guy is simple.
Did he lie to Sasha? Was he really her promise? It’s convenient that her father and his, the only two men who could substantiate the claim he made, are both dead.
I ponder this until we reach the airport. And by that time, Sasha is sleeping so deeply, she doesn’t even wake up when I pick her up in my arms and walk her up the stairs. I take her to the back of the plane and place her on the bed. “Sasha,” I whisper softly in her ear.
“Hmmm?” she moans back.
“Let’s take off your coat.”
“Mmmm.” She moves just enough for me to get her coat off, and then she turns over and falls back asleep with her hands bunching the pillow up to her face.
I stand there and smile down at her. Just smile. She’s so fucking adorable. And I’m starting to regret that rash decision to have sex with her in the car. You only get one first time. This one was pretty good as far as first times go. But still… I should’ve waited. Made it more romantic and less primal.
I lean down and kiss her on the head and then I walk out, leaving the lights off so she can get some rest. I go all the way up front to the business end of the plane and take a seat at the table.
“Drink, sir?” Essie asks.
“Sure. Brandy, if you’ve got it. You the only one on staff tonight?”
“No, the other girls are chatting in the galley. But if you want them, I can get them.”
“No, let them chat. I’ve got everything I need and I can use the quiet time.”
“Very good, sir,” she says, placing a snifter with two fingers of brandy in front of me on the table. “Just call if you need anything.”
I need a lot of things. But nothing Essie can help with. So I won’t be calling for her. I just drink my brandy and think about Sasha. I think about picking her up again and carrying her to the car that will be waiting for us when we land. I hope she doesn’t wake up.
Mostly because I want to carry her again. I loved that feeling. Her soft body against my hard one. But also because I’m not taking her home. And when she figures that out, she’s gonna be pissed.

Strong Athletic Man Fitness Model Torso showing muscles isolatedEXCERPT:

Excerpt 1:

I use the knife as a marker, drawing a pattern without drawing blood. Her eyes anxiously follow the tip, as if she’s trying to prepare for something. The thing is that she’ll never know when it’s coming. That look on her face, priceless. So torturous, the way she’s unraveling bit by bit … it’s like food for my soul.

Sweat trickles down her skin, and then when I let the tip puncture her skin just a tiny bit, she squeals. But I know it doesn’t hurt that much. I’ve tried this on myself plenty of times. Always have to know what the things I do to my victims feel like. Of course, the fear is taking over her sense of rationalizing. She’s letting it control her instead of experiencing it for what it is. Fear is excitement. Fear is a part of our souls. Fear makes us feel alive.

And she should be grateful that she’s still alive.

It’s all in my hands. With one slice, I could kill her right here, right now. But I don’t.

Instead, I lean in and suckle the blood off her skin, kissing her softly, letting my tongue slide all across her belly.

She squirms underneath me; her body arches to meet my mouth, but her mind is still focusing on the fear.

“Stop thinking, Vanessa,” I say. “It’s not doing you any good right now.”

“What are you doing?” she asks.

“What does it look like?” I say, ripping off her skirt so I can see her pretty pussy. “I’m enjoying you to the fullest.”

“By sucking my blood?”

I frown, waving the knife in the air. “You know, you should really consider the fact that I could’ve killed you already. You might want to think about that as I gorge myself on your pussy.”

She swallows. “What’s to say that you won’t kill me now?”

I smile. “I just like seeing the fear in your eyes, Princess. Nothing more.” I bring the knife to my mouth and lick the blade. I can taste her blood, and my own, as the sharpness cuts through my own flesh, but I don’t care. I’m lost in ecstasy, living on the edge, wanting to jump off with her.

She shivers, her lips quivering as I bring the knife down to her face. “C’mon sweet cheeks, smile for me,” I say.

The right side of her lip curls up into a fake smile, which does not move me even one bit. Damn her; normally, she’s as fake as can be, able to perform without flaw, and now real emotions suddenly overcome her?

Fuck her.

I ram the knife into the table next to her head, causing her to close her eyes. “Look at me,” I say. “Open your eyes, Princess.”

They peel open slowly. “Please … Phoenix.”

“Please what? You don’t like it when I want to lick the blood from your skin? You should be flattered.”

She shakes her head.

“I don’t fucking believe you,” I snap, grabbing her pussy with one hand, which makes her jolt up. “I bet this pussy here will tell me the truth.”

“No,” she says, still shaking.

“What are you so afraid of?” I muse. “This knife? Blood? Pain? Death? What?”

The way she says it, without any doubt, takes me by surprise, and for a moment, I don’t know what to say. I thought she’d say pain, or even death, but instead, she says something that causes my heart to shrivel up and die. At least, it feels like that. Like my heart is burning a hole in her chest. That or her eyes. Either way, I’m fucked now. I started feeling something I shouldn’t have.

I lean in to look her in the eyes. “Can’t you feel the excitement rushing through your body? The adrenaline pumping through your veins? Isn’t it so much better than the lifeless statue-like doll you’ve been these past few years?”

“I …” she stutters. “I don’t know.”

“Your heart does. And so does your pussy.” I slide my fingers along her slit, which is already warm and wet. “It craves the thrill. You crave life. Real life. Not the fake kind. The kind that could get you killed,” I whisper close to her ear. “And I’m gonna give it to you.”

I back away, leaving her eyes full of fear and doubt as I stand up straight and focus my attention on her pussy. It’s all I know, all I can think of that will make her submit. That will make her stop thinking about all the things she thinks she wants and focus on the things she really desires. Me.

It’s always been me.

She doesn’t have to say it. I can see it in her eyes. I can taste it in her fear.

She wants me … and I’m going to give her everything I have.

Excerpt 2:

“Are you going to be a good girl?”

“Do you still think I’m nice?”

She swallows and thinks about her answer for a second. “Only when you want to be.”

“Exactly. And you don’t get to decide anything. You don’t get to manipulate me. I won’t allow it, so don’t try it ever again.” I grip her ass so tight that she squirms and my fingers mark her skin red.

Her face glows as I lean in to take a whiff of her scent. Her face is much cleaner than before, and all the make-up has rinsed off. She looks pure … less tainted than hours before. Every passing second her shifting behavior affects me. Changes me. It forces me to look at her in more ways than just the one consumed by hatred.

With the water cascading down her beautiful body, puckered nipples, and pink lips, I get the sudden urge to take what belongs to me.

So, I do. I kiss her, pressing my lips softly onto hers, marking her as mine. She doesn’t fight, doesn’t even flinch as I kiss her gently, my tongue dipping out to lick her sweet, icy-cold lips. I let my tongue roam free across her mouth and push inside, forcing her to open up and let me in. She doesn’t resist; instead, her tongue finds mine, and her lips cling to me. The cold doesn’t suppress the warmth flowing to my cock, which grows thicker every second. All I can think of is kissing her, fucking her every fucking second of the day …, and then ruining her for life.

I step into the shower with her, increasing the temperature further until it’s warm enough to heat up her body. She’s still shivering, as I press her firmly into my warm body. She makes herself small to fit between my arms, as if I’m a radiator she’s cuddling up to. How cute. I just want to fuck her with my tongue.

Her taste is exhilarating, and I can’t fucking get enough of tasting her, her mouth latching onto mine with equal wantonness. Her body is quickly regaining its normal temperature, and her natural flush reappears on her face, although I’m not exactly sure if that’s because of the shower or because I’m grabbing her ass and pushing her body against mine.

The urge to turn her around and bend her over gets bigger and bigger as she pants into my mouth, desperate for air … desperate for more kisses. I let my hands roam free over her body, cupping her tit and giving it a nice squeeze. My mouth silences her first moan, as I taste her willingness to finally submit. And, oh … how I will make her submit.

My Thoughts:

4 star review

I enjoyed this book more than the first book! I liked that there was some MC in it but just glimpses, off coarse this book had nothing to do with an MC. I read Ice before I read this series so I did not understand who Lucas and the EX OPS team was. Now I have read this book so I can tell this is a fun read for me.

Now this is about Riley Sullivan and Kara Sullivan. Kara loved her husband a lot but they were drifting apart; he was always away on assignment for the Navy and he always volunteered for assignments that he didn’t need to so he was never there but is somehow changed when she got pregnant. He was there more but then he went on an assignment and tragedy struck and Kara could not take it anymore. She left him and got a divorce. After she left he became a shell of a man, a guy who is always quite and needs his one true love to be happy again.

She came into his life again eight years later when Riley and his EX OPS team went undercover at a strip club owned by the Regulators MC and that is where meet Ice and Hammer for the first time. What I liked about Kara at the strip club is that she came into herself and become the feisty woman that she actually is. Ice saw how much she meant to Riley so he gave her up. Riley always loved her and he did everything he could to get her back. He didn’t have to work so hard because they both still loved each other more than everything in the world. Kara was still scared to be with him forever until something happened to Riley and his team…. that is when she figured out that he needs her as much as she needs him! This book was a real easy read and I read it all in one day 🙂 this book was really good and I for one could not wait to read Declan’s story.
