Synopsis: Jack Horwood hates owing favors. But when a simple day out to treat Gareth to the best oysters in England leads to a discovery of drugs and counterfeit money—things that neither Jack nor Gareth have the jurisdiction to handle—he has to call in help. Help that doesn’t come cheap, and that forces him to do something he promised himself he’d never do again—walk away from Gareth and the family he’s starting to make for himself.

Three months undercover is a long time. After missing Gareth’s birthday, Jack is determined not to miss their first anniversary. But coming home and being home are two very different things. So when he is asked to assist with a corporate espionage investigation, Jack can’t say no, despite knowing it will impact his already straining relationship.

Except, of course, he’s walking into a trap….

Excerpt

“That was one spectacular brunch,” Gareth sighed, mellow and content, as they wandered slowly along the beach. He hadn’t just eaten oysters until he was ready to pop and washed them down with a bottle of creamy, lemon-scented fizz. They’d also been ordered to stop by the shack on their way home to collect a cooler full of freshly caught, baked, and smoked goodies to take with them. And Jack, who took orders as well as a mule, hadn’t said a word against the edict. Now the surf was a soft rattle of pebbles and hiss of foam sinking through sand, the sun caressed his skin, and the salty breeze was surprisingly pleasant. It wasn’t summer warm, but nowhere near chilly either. “And this… this is perfect.”

The day got better than perfect when Jack shed his green fleece, showing off the steel-gray sleeveless top he wore underneath. Gareth feasted his eyes on the long, elegant line of Jack’s back and slid his gaze across wide shoulders down to strong, muscled arms and capable, long-fingered hands.

For someone who always complained about Gareth’s teasing, Jack wasn’t doing a half-bad job of it himself. He looked edible standing on the pebble beach, framed by the endlessly shifting gray-green wash of the sea and with the soft blue and white of an April sky above. Gareth could have sworn that the air around him grew just a tad warmer as Jack stretched his arms up over his head and arched his back, seemingly to work out the kinks, but drawing Gareth’s gaze inevitably to his pert ass and long legs, encased in snug black denim.

After over two weeks of drought, Gareth’s body took immediate notice of the display, especially when Jack pushed his aviators up to rest amid his dark choppy hair, tipped his head back, and basked in the sunshine. Having seen in the past how quickly Jack’s skin caught the sun—he had looked like a local after a mere week in the desert—Gareth knew that he would be asked the following morning if he’d had a good holiday. But that wasn’t what made Gareth’s jeans grow uncomfortably tight. No, that reaction was due to him imagining Jack spread out on their bed, his skin gleaming golden in soft lamplight, and with the same blissful look on his face that he wore right then.

Damn the brat for playing his little games in public! Gareth drew a deep breath and then another, trying to calm his heart and mind. Of course it didn’t work. Wishing the beach and everyone on it into the second circle of hell had no effect either.

“Perfect. Just… perfect,” he grumbled, catching up with Jack.

“Told you. Best oysters in England.”

Synopsis: You don’t greet your new boss dressed like an underage rent boy. But when Jack Horwood—ace hacker and ex-MI6 operative—opens the door to Gareth Flynn, he’s too busy to worry over details like that. And anyway, his potential new boss is his former Commanding Officer – the same guy Jack has had a crush on since he was seventeen. So he should understand, right?

When he applied for the job in Nancarrow Mining’s corporate security division, Jack had hoped for peaceful days repelling cyber attacks. Maybe a bit of corporate espionage on the side. His plans didn’t include rescuing abused children, hunting pimps, or dealing with his overly protective and hot-as-hell boss, Gareth Flynn.

Walking away is not an option. Jack never takes the easy way out. More than that, meeting Gareth raises old ghosts that Jack needs to put to rest. Rescuing kids. Taking risks. Saving the day. Jack can do all that – but deciding what to do about his attraction to Gareth isn’t the sort of cloak-and-dagger game Jack plays well. Yet Gareth, strong and smart and always on hand when needed, might be Jack’s salvation.

From the time his mother sold him to her pimp to the moment he walked out on the man he loved, Christmas has always been about change and painful choices. This year seems no different. Helping Daniel and Nico recover from their imprisonment and hunting down those responsible puts Jack in a frame of mind he doesn’t want to inflict on anyone. Least of all Gareth and the tentative relationship they’ve started to rebuild.

But Gareth, for whom Christmas is all about new beginnings, won’t let Jack take the easy way out. He makes him face his ghosts instead. Even when said ghosts invade their bedroom.

When Daniel’s parents are found, Jack is determined to settle the matter without involving Daniel at all. But fate decrees otherwise, and it’s Gareth who helps him finally understand that the strongest bonds are those forged together. Once he gets that, Jack can step up and make a decision designed to lay his ghosts to rest—for good.

Jackie loves stories about unexpected reunions and second chances, and men who don’t follow the rules when those rules are stupid. She has a thing for green eyes and tight cyclist’s butts and is a great believer in making up soundtracks for everything, including her characters and the cat.

And she still hasn’t found the place where the bus stops.

The wife of a U.S. Marine, Mimi spent countless nights worried that her husband Joel would fall in the line of duty. He had fought valiantly and served his country with honor. In desperate need of closure, Mimi travels to the one place Joel still has ties—The Marcus Ranch in Texas, inherited by his handsome younger brother Austin.

New beginnings are only an illusion…

The closer Mimi grows to the Marcus family, the more she considers it home. But when suspicions of Joel’s past surface, Austin refuses to disclose family secrets—even to his brother’s widow. It’s only by accident she uncovers evidence of Joel’s tainted past. Devastated by his lies and betrayal, she slowly opens up to Austin, and together they unfold layers of pain and grief.

Mimi is sure she’ll never love again, but is Austin the man to prove her wrong? Then the unthinkable happens…

Just as Mimi finds new hope in a future with Austin, Joel returns home from war. Enraged, traumatized, and teetering on the edge of insanity, Joel confesses to a history of deception, revealing yet another secret—this one too terrible to forgive.

No matter what.

Teaser 4 Till Death Us Do PartExcerpt

Mimi had been dreaming of a storm. Heavy rain, violent claps of thunder, and lightning flashing simultaneously.

She saw Joel, reaching out for her, his body bloody and wet. She awoke in the darkened room. It was 2:17 a.m.—the exact time she had woken up for three nights in a row. She slipped out of bed, her pyjama bottoms loose around her ever-shrinking waist. The air was freezing. She dashed across the room to wrap herself in the fleecy dressing gown her mother had just bought her for Christmas.

6:47 a.m. in Afghanistan.

Her stomach growled, begging for food. She couldn’t eat. She clicked onto her Twitter feed to check for more updates since the suicide bombing in Kabul, which had claimed at least six—two were American Marines.

Mimi had contacted the Embassy several times, but nobody could tell her anything. The pain of not knowing was taking away her ability to breathe normally. The silence was too loud. She had tried to remember their last conversation. Did she tell him that she loved him? Words so quick to fall off the tongue to end a phone call. Love you—bye. Often she had felt like she was holding a grenade—being the wife of a Marine, always waiting for a letter, hearing his voice, waiting for news that he was alive or dead.

About the Author

Novelist, movie addict, and animal lover, Cristina Slough is the author of Till Death Us Do Part, her debut novel.

Cristina has always been a bookworm, rarely seen without a pen and paper in her hand, she loves delving into a literacy fictional world of her own.

At the age of 11, her junior school teacher told her mother that she would be wasting her life if she didn’t become an author. Throughout her teenage years and beyond, her parents spurred her on to keep writing. She later began a career in commercial real estate, working in London’s West End, a corporate bubble where she was unable to fuel her passion to write.

It was on her Californian honeymoon in 2012 that the bug to write was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. After visiting Yosemite National Park she was inspired by the natural beauty of the land that surrounded her. Holding a special place in her heart, Yosemite would later be written into her debut novel.

She finally gave up the ‘big smoke’ when her son, Lucas, was born in October 2013.

When Lucas was a newborn, Cristina was told to sleep when the baby sleeps. She never could. There was a calling inside her to write. After getting to grips with her new role as a mother, she began working a psychological thriller, but she couldn’t fully connect to the characters she created. She ditched the manuscript and started Till Death Us Do Part (Limitless Publishing, 2015).

Cristina is married to Adam, who runs a successful business; together they share their Bedfordshire home with their son, crazy white German Shepherd and three spoiled cats. They can be found trekking through woodlands, or around the many shops Cristina loves to explore. As a family, they love to travel frequently, the United States being a firm favorite.

Derek’s easy smile and quiet strength tempt Emilie to open up, igniting the desire between them and leading Derek to crave a woman he shouldn’t trust.

As the team’s investigation reveals how powerful their enemies are, Derek and Emilie must prove where their loyalties lie before hearts are broken and lives are lost. Because love is too hard to come by to let slip away…

My Thoughts

Original Review on....

Okay so this is going to be a short review as I am at work.

Let me tell you this book is just so much fun to read. This book had the perfect balance of romance and suspense and don’t forget all that emotion! It was SEXY & HOT and don’t forget about all those funny moments. I always want to see what T-Shirt Jeremy wears, it always make me smile…. But I loved Marz.

pll_ezria_gif_by_thefoggylight-d4pyb7p

As always Laura Kaye kept my interest since the beginning of the book! I also love it that I can see into both of the main characters minds. The emotions in the book was amazing. I mean I figured out that lighting the mood for everyone and making jokes is short of a defence mechanism. I don’t know how he survived for so long without loving people except his team mates. I feel for him so much because all his life he was alone.  I also can’t believe how strong Emilie is I mean it takes a strong person to go to the police and ask for an evaluation knowing that Manny is struggling with PTSD as she is afraid he might hurt himself or someone else. The problem with that is she was too late to save him.

Now what is this story about? Derek DiMarzio wants to restore his honor and his teams honor and to do that they need to find out what Many Garza has to do with all the stuff they uncovered. They need to find Manny but he is like a ghost. Marz thinks the way in would be Manny’s sister Emilie, they think he might go to her. First Marz did not know if they can trust her but soon he became to like her. Marz made Emilie feel again and when she was in danger he came running to save her. She never thought she would fall in love again or trust again not with her past. And also because when Marz first met her, he kind of lied to her about everything up until she got into danger.tumblr_nsxyvr77ib1qlgbzbo1_500

Anyway like always this book was amazing and I loved rereading it. This book had my emotions running high and I would highly recommend it to anyone I see. Trust me it is such a quick read with a lot of suspense and sexy swoon worthy men!!!  I mean this book had more than enough action, suspense and like I said already a lot of emotions with steamy romance. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

A New York Times and USA Today Bestseller!

Ever since hard-bodied, drop-dead-charming Shane McCallan strolled into the dance club where Crystal Dean works, he’s shown a knack for getting beneath her defenses. For her little sister’s sake, Crystal can’t get too close. Until her job and Shane’s mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.

Shane would never turn his back on a friend in need, especially a former Special Forces teammate running a dangerous, off-the-books operation. Nor can he walk away from Crystal. The gorgeous waitress is hiding secrets she doesn’t want him to uncover. Too bad. He’s exactly the man she needs to protect her sister, her life, and her heart. All he has to do is convince her that when something feels this good, you hold on as hard as you can–and never let go.

My Thoughts

Original Review on....

Hard as you can is one of my favorite books of this series. Yes I have already read this book but I just never reviewed it. I planned to change that. I love the romance and suspense. It is just a perfect balance between the two. Don’t forget the sexy hot southern charm of Shane McCallan. Laura Kaye just knows how to write a book that keeps all my attention I mean I haven’t touched my study materials much lately.

First off all I adore this cover. What is there not to like? It’s just one amazing cover. What I like about the cover is you can see how well defined and strong Shane is well the guy portraying Shane in the covers but still the same. They got the right guy for the cover.

s6jb85olo8a7

Now what is this great book about? Shane McCallen is one of the five men working together to clear their names after they got discharged from the army for something they did not do. They were all blamed for it and now they may not speak to anyone about it. In the previous book Charlie Merrit found out something about their Frank Merrit that started this entire investigation. What Charlie found out had put him in harm’s way and he got himself kidnapped. Becca Merrit needed the help of the five men to get him back and that is how they all got together again. They found out where Charlie was held and they went to rescue them. Now this is where Crystal comes in. She somehow helped them even though she knew it was dangerous.

Shane saw something in Crystal that made him think of his sister at first. She was scared shitless and she has nowhere to go. Crystal is in debt to the Church gang and she needs to pay her debt off. She is working it off at Confessions and she is doing everything she can to blend in. after all it is just eight months more….. The moment Crystal met Shane was the moment everything changed in her life. I mean she decided to help him even if it was dangerous for her. Shae made her feel safe and protected and he made her feel cherished. Shane fell for Crystal fast and hard and the same went for Crystal. What I love about Shane and all the other men is how protective they are over the women I mean they don’t raise their fists to any of the women. Not like Bruno the boyfriend Crystal had when she met Shane. I admire Crystal so much. I mean she had a real hard life but yet she did everything she could to take care of her sister and to keep her safe. She never want Jenna to be in danger and she tried her best to keep her safe.

1437417378348

Anyway back to the novel I loved every moment of every second. Yes I took a while to read this but that is because I got busy with my work.  I would easily reread this book again as this is nearly one of my favorite books in this series. This book has the perfect balance of romance and suspense. Loved every moment of it.

Excerpt

“Do you like to dance, Crystal?” Shane asked in a low voice.   “Uh, what? Why?”   His smile was crooked, playful. “ ’Cause dancing’s something people do when they’re getting to know each other.”   “Really?” Maybe where he was from. Then again, she worked in a strip club. Dancing was something people did to make money. So, okay, maybe her view of dancing was a bit jaded.   “Absolutely. Ask anybody.” The song faded away, followed by the announcement of a Southern rock station’s call sign. A new song started, and Shane turned to her with a smile. “Dance with me.”   Crystal peered up at him without the slightest idea how to respond. Because her body was saying hell, yes!, while her brain was screaming bad idea, really, really bad idea.   He stepped closer, arms raised, expression full of all kinds of invitation.   The next thing she knew, her right hand was in his and her left had slipped around his neck. Ohmigod, ohmigod, ohmigod, ran over and over in her mind. What am I doing? But then he tucked her hand against his chest and tugged her against him with the hand that settled at her lower back. And the closeness stole her breath.   He moved them to the beat of the song, a slow, sexy, bluesy number she didn’t know but would never forget. Some songs carried memories like the images were imprinted upon the very lyrics themselves, and she had no doubt this would be one of them.   All of a sudden, the air in the room felt ten degrees warmer. As they swayed to the beat, Shane’s body pressed against hers from thighs to chest. With every step and move and turn, Crystal’s breasts rubbed against the hard plane of his chest. Strong hands held and guided her body, making her want to feel them explore her everywhere. Arousal rose like a waking dragon inside her. Cautious. Curious. Dangerous.   This was wrong and stupid on so many levels. But, scary as it was, it felt so freaking good that she couldn’t force herself to pull away. One song. It’s just a dance. Just a dance just a dance just a dance.   And, holy crap, she wasn’t the only one aroused.   Against her belly, Shane hardened.   Crystal sucked in a breath, and he pressed his lips close to her ear. “We’re just dancing here. That’s all. I promise,” he said. But the adrenaline was already in her blood, setting her to a trembling she couldn’t control. Part curious interest and part instinctive fear. “Sshh,” he almost cooed. “Just dancing.”   The echo of her own thoughts from a moment before allowed her to draw a breath that almost calmed. They turned and swayed to the music, moving closer, pressing tighter, Shane’s lips so close to her face that she could feel his breath shudder across her cheekbone.   He was a fire she had no business playing with. She knew that even as she leaned her face against his . . . and got exactly what she’d hoped for.   He kissed her.   Just a brush of his lips against her cheek, but a kiss all the same.   And as much as it made her head spin, it was the little catch of breath in the back of his throat that sent a jolt of electricity down her spine to settle low in her belly. Light as a feather, he caressed her cheek, her temple, her ear with his lips. With him, always such gentleness, so different from almost every other sexual experience she’d ever had. It made her feel safe to allow this to continue.   Between them, his erection was firm, long, totally unyielding.   She shivered, caught between interest and fear, desire a river moving faster and faster inside her. The whole experience was a revelation—that her body had the capacity to respond this way, that a person existed who could pull these reactions from her.   For a moment, she gave herself over to the dizzying sensations. In her mind’s eye, she saw them undressing, fumbling their way back the hall, falling naked and wanting on the bed. What would it be like, just once, to take something that she wanted without worrying about anyone else, without being afraid? Just one wild, secret night, all for her? What would Shane be like? – See more atDivider_031

BO

Her moods flow in gentle waves. The coffee of her irises swims with sadness then lifts into whiskey gold with the twang of my guitar. Left to ourselves in the back lounge, our silence is sinuous, laced with stories from my hometown, Skala, and Nadia’s anecdotes from growing up in a cult. But when we’re quiet, my fingers itch and find my guitar. Toy with strings and enunciate emotions she tries to conceal.

Sometimes, my riffs turn to ballads while lyrics splash out in patches of color in my head. Sometimes, when Nadia curves a hip to get comfortable, my gaze float to her waist and shifts to her chest. The game of my chords turns loaded, adding a steady, slow beat, the way I do to make her climb when we’re together.

Without words, she still hears my hunger. Watches my fingers work metal strings with a need that becomes X-rated. And she sits up. Joins her legs and lowers her chin to her knees, demure, secretive, hiding behind her hair in shyness and not understanding that she’s sexier than ever.

All these females. So many women and vixens with a past, a present, and a future—a full life I never wanted to be a part of. But now, I crave to bury deep under the skin of a single girl who is not single.

It’s been a while since I spoke last, so my voice rasps deep when I say, “You kill me.”

“I don’t want to kill you. Do you know the person you are? How talented you are? You deserve so much, Bo, you don’t even know, and the last thing you need is dead weight like me.”

review

4 Rating

So this is going to be short review as I’m typing this out on my lunch break at work. :/ So this is the second book that I have read by this author and let me tell you that I enjoyed it immensely. I mean this was a quick, fast paced and solid novel. This novel had a little of everything in here…. It had love, angst, drama and mystery. I love all of that in novels. I love strong females making their way into the male dominated professions. It shows is you work for what you want.

Delaney is a female bodyguard and worked real hard to get the respect she deserves from her fellow male co-workers.  She finally gets her own case where she can prove to all the men she can do just as good a job as a man, she get the very yummy, rich, hot Jaxon Shields. He does not want a women bodyguard and makes no problem at making it known. Delaney did not give up though and she proved she can do a good job. Not only does she save him when there was an attempt on his life but she also started to get under his skin… which obviously started to from an attraction between the two.

Now it took me awhile to warm up to Jax. Let me tell you he gave me whiplash with all those mood swings of his. I mean flirty one moment then sexist pig the next. I don’t know maybe I needed his POV as well just to understand him better with that mood swings! I loved how Delaney was not scared to stand up for her job and I loved that bite to her tongue 😛

Those love scenes were hot. I liked it a lot and the story moved at a fast pace… this is not a long book but it still had enough drama to keep me interested until the very end. If you need a quick read that holds your interest, then this book is it. This is a great guilty pleasure so trust me you should read this and maybe read the other books in this series!!

Synopsis

I am a blank canvas that even the artist in me doesn’t know how to fill. My life started the day I escaped and woke up in the hospital.

Escaped from reality. Escaped from fear. Escaped from him.

Nothing exists before that, and as the days trickle by, I’m positive there’s nothing after that either.

I try though. For Poppa, who hasn’t left my side since I woke up, I try to live.

But every attempt is futile. So I escape again and start fresh on a small island, where there aren’t any expectations to fulfill. Where family and friends I don’t remember can’t look at me with sadness and disappointment.

And when Travis Keillar comes into my life everything changes. The memories I’ve lost become unimportant to the memories I’m creating with him. For the first time since I opened my eyes that fateful day in the hospital, life smiles back at me.

Until it doesn’t.

Until he comes back for me.
For revenge of crimes I don’t remember committing.

Excerpt

It doesn’t happen very often, but every now and then, like now, the loneliness that I’ve become accustomed to creeps in and settles uncomfortably in the pit of my stomach. The only solution I’ve come up with is sleep. Sleep, like drawing, is an escape I look forward to unless one of my nightmares comes to haunt me. While the nightmares don’t hit me like they did when I first left the hospital, they’re still there, resting below the surface, just waiting to strike.

Not wanting to wallow, I gaze up at the sky and look at the stars, whose promises and allure call to me. I leave my phone and the unanswered texts from Derrick, and I take my glass of wine down the rocky path to the beach where I slip off my sandals and dig my feet into the sand. Enjoying the soft rumble of the sea, I continue to look at the stars, and I let out a quiet sigh.

“Don’t fall apart,” I tell myself, bracing my arms around my chest as the pending storm collects in my chest.

Without preamble, Leeloo comes barreling down the beach, startling me in the process. Laughter rumbles from my belly when she rolls onto her back and wiggles herself in the sand, but Travis frightens me further when he touches my shoulder so softly that I barely feel it. After a loud shriek, Travis tentatively rests his hand on my shoulder before he takes my wine from me and takes a sip for himself.

“Do you know how stars are born?” Travis asks, staring straight ahead into the darkness looming over the ocean.

I shake my head stare into the daunting black, feeling suddenly vulnerable with Travis so close to me. He puts his hand back on my shoulder, and I tremble under his touch.

“A gaseous nebula must fall apart. It has to breakdown, and just when it thinks it’s met its destruction, a star is born.”

Strands of my hair dance across my face when I tilt it upward to look at him, and my lungs fill with hope.

“So fall apart.” He shrugs. “It’s the only way to be reborn.”

A damp, musty smell assaulted her senses. She couldn’t see because of the single bare light bulb hanging in front of her, glaring into her eyes, while she imagined dark, damp corners. Emma tried to peer around the room. Next to the bulb was a metal, beaded string. Against the far wall sat an old green couch. The stairs were behind her. There were laundry hook-ups sticking out of the wall above the couch. The floor was concrete. She was in a cellar of a house, her hands tied to one of the exposed old, wooden beams that ran the length of the ceiling. When she looked up, she could see the wiring and cables stapled to and running atop the beams. Did he live here?“Don’t you touch me, you freak,” Emma screamed, as she dangled by her bound hands from the ceiling of the cottage’s basement.

“You are going to tell me everything I want to know about your boyfriend before I kill you,” Ingrams commanded as he ran his finger between her breasts.

Emma wiggled and tossed her body away from Ingram’s hand.

“Who is he, Ms. Welby?” Ingrams demanded.

“Go to hell,” Emma exclaimed as she spat in his direction.

He didn’t take kindly to the insult. Ingrams raised his right hand and backhanded her hard across her face. Her lip busted open and she sucked in the familiar metallic taste of blood.

“We can play this game all night. In fact, we can play this game for the next three nights. But I guarantee you, you will tell me what I want to know. The question is, Ms. Welby, how quickly do you want to die?” Ingrams jeered as he wiped the line of blood trickling from Emma’s lip down her chin. Ingrams moved his face closer to Emma’s and licked at the blood removing it from her chin.

“You’ve obviously suffered some kind of psychotic break, you sick man. You said you worked for the CIA. I don’t know anybody that works for the CIA that would treat a fellow colleague the way you’re treating me,” Emma snarled as she swung her legs away from Ingram’s body.

“Tell me about him. How long have you known him? Does he know about the work you do for the DOD? Does he know about Project Hummingbird?” Ingrams growled as he pulled back his right arm and punched Emma in the stomach.

She couldn’t lean forward to block the pain. Her hands were bound above her head and her body was dangling, her feet swinging above the floor.

“Come on sweetie. Make my work easy for me. Don’t put yourself through this unnecessary pain. Just tell me who he is and who he works for, and we can be done here,” he said as he pulled his arm back to ram his fist into her stomach a second time.

Emma felt the wind leave her body. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears. He would not break her. If she told him what he wanted to know, she was dead. She had to endure whatever he dished out, just until Michael could save her.

He raised his arm again to strike her but this time she lifted her leg and connected with his groin.

“You bitch,” he huffed as he hunched over in pain. There, that would buy her a reprieve, she thought, just enough to gain some of her strength back. She needed to be strong for Michael. Shit, she needed to be strong for herself.

After rolling on the floor in utter agony for several minutes, Ingrams got to his knees and pushed himself upright. “I am going to kill him with or without your help, Ms. Welby,” Ingrams seethed.

He went to the bag he brought with him and pulled out the duct tape. He walked behind her and wrestled her legs together as she kicked and bucked. He finally managed to hold them tightly and began rolling the tape around her ankles binding both legs.

“There, no more kicking,” he smiled as he stood up and placed the tape back in his bag.

He turned and walked back over to her. Her hands felt like they were separating from her wrists, but she couldn’t give up. How long would he take to kill her? Did he really plan on torturing her first? It was obvious something wasn’t right with this man.

“I must say, Ms. Welby, I didn’t expect you to be so strong. You have a PhD for God’s sake. But you’re delicate like a flower,” Ingrams told her as he ran his hand between her legs. He wriggled his hand in between her thighs and cupped her sex. She squirmed and bucked, but she couldn’t escape him.

“Get your hands off of me,” she yelled as tears fell down her cheeks. Salt mixing with the metal taste on her lips.

“Maybe I will have you before I kill you. You are a remarkably beautiful woman, Ms. Welby,” he insisted as he applied pressure to her clit with his nubby fingers.

“You’d like that, you sick animal? Why don’t you untie me so we can become properly acquainted,” she retorted as she tried to again free herself from his hand. Where are you Michael? “Oh Emma? Emma? Whatever shall I do with you?” he asked as he removed his hand from her sex. “I can’t let you help a terrorist organization. I have to kill you. What you know is too valuable. They won’t stop coming after you until you give them what they want. And what they want is the information on Project Hummingbird. You really can’t expect me, a CIA agent, to let you go now, can you?” Ingrams coaxed while he brushed Emma’s reddened face with the back of his hand.

He lowered his arm, pulled back his fist, and punched her square in the face. “That’s for kicking me in the balls, you bitch.”
Author Bio

Writing is something that has always come naturally to me. Throughout my academic and professional careers, I have always found my way back to writing. Writing a novel has long been a dream of mine, and I’ve made many attempts. I also read a great deal, like a book every three days. I love reading contemporary romantic suspense novels, so authors like Maya Banks, Nora Roberts, and H.M. Ward are some of my favorites. I also love Abbi Glines and Slyvia Day to name a few. They have taught me so much. But it wasn’t until I attempted to read a poorly written, unengaging book that I knew I could do it. That’s what inspired me – a really bad book. So after giving up reading this book, I put pen to paper and produced my first novel, and I haven’t slowed down since.I got my start in the world of writing novels late in life, but when the sirens call, you have to answer. I am an English teacher and editor by day but a writer by night. I LOVE language and the written word. At the heart of every interaction is some form of communication; it’s what makes the world go around. I truly believe I was born in the wrong century. I would have loved to be alive during the early 19th century when communication was an art form. The book Pride and Prejudice was set then and it is my all-time favorite read.

I want to create your favorite read. I love crafting stories that you can connect to. I want you biting your fingernails in suspense. I want you hot and bothered over my sex scenes. I want you breathless.

“Dance with me, Mackenzie,” he said, holding my hand in his, sensually placing the other just below my hip bone.

“What are you−”

“Shhh…,” he admonished, expertly leading me in our dance, the band playing Cole Porter’s Every Time We Say Goodbye. “Just enjoy it and don’t think.”

I simply nodded, turning my head to scan the restaurant.

“Mackenzie, eyes on me. I need to know you’re with me.”

I snapped my eyes back to his, my mouth slightly agape as my heart pounded in my chest. He was warm and spellbinding. The way he held me in his arms comforted me and made me feel as if they were made to hold me.

“Are you with me?” he asked, raising his eyebrows.

“Yes,” I said, my voice soft.

He leaned toward me and the bit of stubble on his chin brushed my skin. “Yes what?” he whispered.

“I’m with you.”

The corners of his lips turned up slightly and there was a spark about him that wasn’t present yesterday. “I like the sound of that, Miss Delano.”

He pulled me closer and I tilted my head to peer into his striking eyes, needing the connection I felt at that moment. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced, all because of a well-placed hand, a sinfully sexy voice, eyes that made me want to melt, and arms that felt like home.

“Who would have thought that the Mackenzie whose lips I couldn’t stop seeing in my dreams last night would turn out to be Mackenzie Delano, proprietor of South Padre’s hottest new spot?”

“How did−”

“Shhh,” he said once more. “You think too much. Just enjoy the moment because it’s over once the band plays the final note to this melody.”

I snapped my mouth shut, a strange awareness of loss washing over me at the prospect of this complete stranger walking away from me once the song came to an end, wondering if I would ever see him again.

“You’re a lovely dancer, Miss Delano,” he commented.

“Thank you,” I answered, unsure of whether to say anything further. He seemed to be in complete control of the dance, of his words…and of mine. And, for the first time, I was okay with someone else calling the shots.

“You have a dancer’s body. I’m confident you’ve bewitched quite a few men with the way you can seamlessly navigate the dance floor.” He leaned toward me and whispered, “I must confess… You’ve bewitched me.”

His voice was sweet as it crooned in my ear, and I was left a silent, blubbering mute, the sincerity in his declaration sparking a renewed sense of longing I had ignored for years. My breathing grew ragged, and I was unable to formulate any response. I simply lost myself in the moment of our dance, wanting his sensual words to ring in the recesses of my mind for all eternity. I wished I could have recorded his voice murmuring those endearing words to me so I could replay them over and over again when I needed to feel something I didn’t think I would ever feel again.

He molded my frame to his, our bodies swaying to the classic tune, and began to sing along with the band. I imagined he was singing to me, and me alone. His voice was deep and guttural, but sweet as he leaned toward my neck and crooned the last verse into my ear. I closed my eyes, losing myself in his warmth, his voice, his everything.

All too soon, the final note rang out, silence encompassing the room, but we continued to sway to the music in our heads, our rhythm perfectly in tune to each other. A loud drum kick echoed, startling me, and I opened my eyes, almost expecting it all to be a dream. But it wasn’t, and I was met with my mysterious stranger’s strong face. Time stood still as we simply stared at each other, neither one of us moving. I licked my dry lips, nerves causing my breathing to grow more intense and labored.

He grabbed my hand and brought it to his soft lips, placing a kiss on it. The contact caused a rush of adrenaline to run through me. Before I could ask his name, he was gone, leaving me stunned and alone once more.
