Have you heard the expression “twelve times a groomsman, never a groom”? Neither had I… until it suddenly became clear that every man I dated found their One True Love in the person they dated after me.

Now I’m writing Best Man speeches for my former boyfriends twice a month, the “After Oscar” thing has become a legend, and I have finally accepted that Oscar Overton is nobody’s Happily Ever After.

Which is fine.

Between running my investment company, providing for Frank, my emotional support hedgehog, and keeping my enthusiastic family from getting in my business, my life is plenty busy. The last thing on my mind is a relationship.

Until Hugh Linzee.

One hot night with the gorgeous wedding photographer somehow turns into a text conversation I just can’t quit, but I’m determined to keep my distance. Hugh has ideas… ideas about romance and fireworks and capital-L love… and I care about him too much to let him get those ideas about me.

Fate keeps throwing us together, though. After an accidental all-night phone call and a convenient wedding run-in, suddenly I find myself agreeing to be his fake boyfriend, and distance quickly becomes a thing of the past.

But how long until Hugh figures out he’ll only get his HEA… After Oscar?

LUCY LENNOX

Lucy Lennox is a USA Today bestselling author and winner of the A.C. Katt Gay Debut Novel Award.

After enjoying creative writing as a child, Lucy didn’t write her first novel until she was over 40 years old. Her debut novel, Borrowing Blue, was published in the autumn of 2016. Lucy has an English Literature degree from Vanderbilt University, but that doesn’t hold a candle to the years and years of staying up all night reading tantalizing novels on her own. She has three children, plays tennis, and hates folding laundry. While her husband is no shmoopy romance hero, he is very good at math, cooks a mean lasagne, has gorgeous eyes, looks hot in his business clothes, and makes her laugh every single day. She writes gay romance with heart, humor, and heat!

MOLLY MADDOX

Molly Maddox is the romance pen name for a New York Times bestselling author who started writing at an early age because her older sister, Lucy Lennox, was a writer and Molly wanted to be like Lucy in all ways (she still does).

When she’s not writing, Molly likes to cook, read, take pictures of her dog and cat cuddling, and finds an odd satisfaction in folding sheets so that the top sheet is indistinguishable from the bottom sheet.

She loves all things romance and is grateful every day she gets to write for a living.

Genre: MM Sports Romance

Series Title: Front Range University

About Beautifully Fractured:

Ever have someone get you so well it’s like looking in a mirror? Cruz Starting over is not what I had planned. They can give me a roommate I’m supposed to be compatible with, but those stories about becoming best friends with the person randomly selected to live with you… Yeah, that won’t be me. I already have a best friend. Even if I wanted a new one, Liam wouldn’t be it. He’s permanently grouchy, carrying a negative energy I don’t need since I’m finally in a good place. But I’ve never been good at ignoring when people need help, so I paste on a smile and play nice. Predictably, Liam isn’t much of a talker, but after an unexpected accident he needs my help in other ways. Ways that offer me answers about myself. Ways that raise new questions about the football dreams I’ve been chasing since I was a kid. Ways that make me relive the past I want to ignore. To say I’m confused is an understatement, but there’s one thing I know for certain…Liam is the key to one door and the bolt that could prevent another from ever opening. And I have to choose which I want him to be.   Liam Starting over is exactly what I need. I can’t get any more invisible than I’ve been for the past few years, and I figure rooming with another person means at least one human on the planet can’t ignore me. Unfortunately, that human is Adonis personified, and not gay, so it’s looking like my invisibility streak might continue. Then I suffer a minor accident, and Cruz’s hero complex comes out in full force. I should be grateful to have someone to open my door and carry my books, but when you pair his selfless personality with that body… My mind starts to blur the roommate line, which makes his blur the line of not being gay. My heart is already battered, and I doubt it can take rejection from the one person who broke down all the walls I’d built around it. That doesn’t mean I won’t try to give it to him anyway. **Beautifully Fractured is a high-heat MM romance with medium angst that features a grumpy/sunshine relationship, forced proximity, hurt/comfort situations and a bi-awakening. This is book one in a series of interconnected standalones.

About the Author:

Hi! I’m Michele-or at least that’s the name I write under-because my parents and my kids are not allowed to read my books. Ever. Though sports romance is my guilty pleasure, I like to dabble in all tropes, genres and genders. My books are set in my home state of Colorado, because to me the mountains are the only thing that can compete with a good book. My favorite food is Mexican, my favorite shoes are flip-flops, and my drink of choice is whiskey, the same as virtually every character I’ve ever written.

Penn
I’m the wild friend. The social butterfly who always knows where the party is (hint: it’s usually at my place). After getting my heart stomped on, I end up with a pair of non-refundable tickets for a super-luxurious cruise vacation. The thought of going solo makes me want to puke, but the only person available to come with me is the one guy who’s completely unimpressed by my trust-fund lifestyle and wild antics.

Penn and I have nothing in common. The guy’s never even had a job, while my career is one of my top priorities. The thought of going solo makes me want to puke, but the only person available to come with me is the one guy who’s completely unimpressed by my trust-fund lifestyle and wild antics.

What he doesn’t know, what none of my friends know, is that I’m trying to start a youth center for LGBT kids. I have no idea what I’m doing, and I’m terrified it won’t work out, so I’m keeping it under wraps. It’s better to let everyone think I’m just a shallow playboy than to face their pity if my plans fall through. I wouldn’t be able to face them if they found out I tried to become something more than just a good-time-guy and failed.

Sharing a room with the guy for an entire week is going to be one helluva challenge.

When we end up sharing not only a room, but also a bed, one thing leads to another. Yeah, hookups happen, but it doesn’t have to be a big deal. We agree to keep things casual and set an expiration date for our friends-with-benefits arrangement, to avoid any drama when we get home.

But then I stumble upon Penn’s secret project, and I’m blown away by his compassion and drive to help others. He makes me promise to keep the whole thing a secret, but when he faces a roadblock I know I can help him get past, I have to trust he’ll understand that accepting help doesn’t make him any less capable.

The Lost Boys say that Peter Pan went back to England because of Wendy Darling, but Wendy is just an old life he left behind. Neverland is his real home. So when Peter returns to it after ten years in the real world, he’s surprised to find a Neverland that no longer seems to need him.

The only person who truly missed Peter is Captain James Hook, who is delighted to have his old rival back. But when a new war ignites between the Lost Boys and Hook’s pirates, the ensuing bloodshed becomes all too real – and Peter’s rivalry with Hook starts to blur into something far more complicated, sensual, and deadly.

My Thoughts

First off, all this is my first non-horror book I’ve read this year. Let me celebrate this as I am struggling to keep reading anything but horror or mystery. I haven’t read a lot of retelling books but I can tell you I really enjoyed this Peter Pan retelling. Can’t wait to go read more retelling books. This novel deserves the 4 Hearts I am giving this.

“Dreamers are always welcome here, whatever their reasons.”
― Austin Chant, Peter Darling

This book was so cute and sweet, and I really wish it could have been longer. I really did not know I needed this before reading the synopsis. I mean who would have thought Peter and Hook together as a couple. I did not see it coming and yet it was SO CUTE. This was your typical slow burn with Hook being the enemy to Peter at the beginning with all the sword fighting and attacks. I saw this as their version of foreplay as Hook finally come alive again. Peter was the only one who could injure Hook in a very long time.

I loved how they explored Neverland and what it could have been for each character.

“The very world here bends for the sake of your stories, Pan. I see no reason why I, a mere man, should not.”
― Austin Chant, Peter Darling

This book was unique, and I can tell you I adored it. I would very much reread it when I need a cozy read at night. I most certainly did not expect a trans Peter and that was one of the strongest elements and Austin Chant did an incredible job with Peters character.

xoxo Ryna
