Young Myla and Lincoln Kick Ass and Take Names in This Prequel Novella for REAPER GAMES!

A part-demon girl fights Lady Reaper
Myla Lewis is a sixteen-year-old part-demon girl who fights evil souls in Purgatory’s Arena… and she’s always looking out for a good battle against evil. Enter Lady Reaper, the famous ghoulette who wields both a scythe and nefarious intentions. Myla discovers Lady Reaper will soon visit the Demon Woods ‘ride’ at Purgatory’s Annual Lust Festival. Time to visit the fest, kick ass and take names, right? Wrong. Lady Reaper has other plans for Myla and her bestie, Cissy…

A part-angel prince faces the Grim Reaper
Lincoln is a seventeen-year-old part-angel prince who protects humans from the denizens of Hell. On a routine trip to Earth, Lincoln uncovers clues that his best friend, Walker, might be allied to an evil ghoul named the Grim Reaper. Things go downhill from there…

***A 20,000-word novella***

Publisher Note: Originally, LADY REAPER was a full novel. However, the author fell ill with COVID and gave us this prequel novella instead. We have since locked Ms. Bauer into the basement with a charger cord, MacBook Pro and carton of Theraflu. Therefore, the full and epic conclusion of this story will definitely be delivered in the next release, REAPER GAMES.

My Lady Reaper Playlist

By Christina Bauer

As part of the launch tour for my new release, Lady Reaper, the folks at Echoing Books have asked me to share my playlist while writing this book. So without further ado, here goes!

One. Supergrass – Alright

It is simply not possible to feel sorry about yourself when listening to this song! The only option is to write away until the wee hours and smile, smile, smile.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUE4oDunYkc&list=PL-pLM9RjgTKbtd_Hio8qdEp2bZVawZzrY&index=1

Two. One Republic – I Ain’t Worried

This tune is from the movie Top Gun-Maverick when the guys were playing football on the beach. For some reason, it’s the theme song for writing Lincoln chapters in this book.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNEUkkoUoIA&list=PL-pLM9RjgTKbtd_Hio8qdEp2bZVawZzrY&index=2

Three. Donovan – Riki Tiki Tavi

This is such a goofy song. It’s great to play while writing a scene where Myla is being a troublemaker.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoXsmEpiuxo&list=PL-pLM9RjgTKbtd_Hio8qdEp2bZVawZzrY&index=11

Four – Lizzo – To Be Loved

This is a wedding song (at least it is in the music video) and the storyline between Lady Reaper and Reaper Games includes Cissy’s wedding. Inspiration!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krdQLzzAeZU&list=PL-pLM9RjgTKbtd_Hio8qdEp2bZVawZzrY&index=8

Five – Imagine Dragons – Sharks

Every book I write has at least one Imagine Dragon’s song on the playlist. Here’s the choice for this release!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te3_VlimRw0&list=PL-pLM9RjgTKbtd_Hio8qdEp2bZVawZzrY&index=7

So there you have it, my playlist for Lady Reaper! Thanks for asking for this list and I hope to see you on a future tour!

xoxo Ryna

Release Blitz ~ Deal Makers by Laura Lee

Title: Deal Makers

Series: Dealing With Love #3

Author: Laura Lee
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: January 4, 2019
Blurb
I’VE OFFICIALLY SCREWED THE POOCH.
I mean, not literally, because that would be
disgusting. But I did break one of the cardinal rules of Bro Code, which is
equally appalling. You see, I fell in love with my best friend’s sister after
he explicitly forbid me to go near her. As if that weren’t bad enough, I went
ahead and married her while sh*tfaced in Vegas.
I know that I should get an annulment and
forget the whole thing ever happened, despite the fact that our wedding night
was the hottest thing I’ve ever experienced.
The last thing I should do is go back for
seconds.
Or thirds.
Or…you get the point.
And what I definitely shouldn’t do, is say
f*ck the consequences and give this marriage a real shot.
But here’s the problem with that: I’m pretty
sure that Charlotte Harris is the one. And if that’s the case, nothing
is going to keep me away from her. Not even her brother.
*Deal Makers is filled with lots of laughs, drunken
shenanigans, and a sexy romance. It is the third installment in the Dealing
With Love series but each one can be read as a standalone.

Knightly
If practice makes perfect, I should excel at pretending that Heath
Miller doesn’t affect me. That I’m immune to that wide jaw, taut body, and the
unique woodsy-aftershave-engine-oil scent that makes my ovaries explode.
Since before I could walk, he’s been my champion. My best friend. The
one problem I can’t solve. Why? If I tell him I love him, I’ll lose him and his
adorable daughter. Maybe the best Christmas gift I can give him—and myself—is
to turn in the keys to my B&B and put some distance between us.
Heath
I’ve made my share of mistakes. Lost my MIT scholarship, came home to
fix cars and romance Kentbury’s female tourists—until I wound up a single
father. For all eight years of Cassie’s life, Knightly’s been my anchor.
I’ve changed. Cassie’s the best part of me, and Knightly’s been there
every step of the way. But as Christmas lays its mantle of magic over Kentbury,
she drops a bomb—she’s following a dream to New York City. I’ve got one week to
do everything, say everything I’ve never dared. To convince my best friend to
be mine—ours—for all the holidays to come.

Prologue
Heath
I hate
surprises almost as much as I hate Sunday brunch at my parents. My family and I
don’t get along. It’s a cliché, but we’re like water and oil. I became
everything they hate and I hate everything they represent. My parents are
judgmental. During my late teens and up until a few months ago, I fucked
around—a lot—in every sense.
Needless to
say, I lost my scholarship to MIT during my sophomore year. The dean called me
irresponsible. My parents wrote me off as a failure until I came back to
Kentbury to take over my uncle’s car repair shop after he died. I try to keep
myself out of trouble and off the town’s radar. I steer away from the women in
town. But I do have fun with the tourists who stay at the lodge. It’s simple.
They’re here for a week or a weekend. Then they’re gone for good.
“But I ran
out of luck,” I sigh and look down.
In the
bouncy chair lies Cassie, my one-month-old baby. The fuss of black hair is
covered by a pink hat. Her arms aloft as if dreaming of cuddling her mother. I
slide my pinky into her open hand and watch as her fingers curl around it. I
feel her soft breath on the back of my hand. Already the tension is melting
away as I watch my sweet little girl sleep in peace. She’s so innocent, she
doesn’t know that our lives have been forever changed again.
“Maybe I
just got lucky,” I whisper close to her ear. “You and I are going to make it
work. I’ll make your proud little one.”
There’s a
slight knock on the door. I kiss her tiny hand before I open it for Knightly.
“That must
be, Knightly, coming to save the day,” I whisper to Cassie and kiss her tiny
hand.
There’s so
much I could tell her about my best friend, but not enough time. I only tell
Cassie what’s important, “She’s going to become your favorite person. We call
her Lee for short.”
When I
swing the door open, I finally relax. Lee’s here.
Her big
brown eyes narrow locking her gaze at me. “I need a big explanation,” she says
handing me the shopping bags she carries with her.
“Hello,
Lee,” I greet her and stare at all the bags she brought as she unzips her blue
parka.
“I got
everything that you asked for,” she says. Bishop is bringing the big items.
What do you need that for?”
Her voice
is neutral, but I know her well. She’s easy to read. The expression on her face
matches her mood. I know when she’s excited about something. I can tell when
she’s tired or cranky. Or, like right now, when she’s upset that I’m keeping
her in the dark. As she takes off all her winter gear and sets her snow boots
on the plastic tray, I close the door avoiding the sight of her body.
I like to
think of Lee Harris as my best friend. One of the boys. She’s the kid who I
hung out with since she could walk. I endless practice not noticing her sweet
curves or the way her long, dark, curly hair cascades over her shoulders once
she takes off her hat. I’m a shitty person and can’t do relationships. I’d
never do anything to jeopardize my relationship with Lee. Ever.
I tilt my
head toward the living room. “Follow me.”
“Oh my God,
did Santa bring me a baby?” She claps once and takes out the tube of hand
sanitizer that she always carries around.
Without
asking, she snaps the belt of the bouncy chair open and takes her into her
arms.
“Hey,
beautiful, welcome to Kentbury. You’re going to love this place.”
Cassie snuggles
closer to Lee who looks beautiful holding my baby. I swallow hard and remind
myself that she’s a friend who deserves a lot more than a guy who sucks at
life.
“You’re not
going to ask anything?”
“The mom
came to the lodge earlier, asking for you.” She sweeps my body with her gaze.
“Tall, dark hair, light blue eyes and was friends with the Lodge’s owner.”
Lee rolls
her eyes and sighs.
“You and
Kingston need to stop sleeping around or…” Lee touches her mouth lightly with
the tips of her fingers. “Oops, it happened.”
“You
could’ve warned me.” I grit my teeth.
“I
could’ve.” She shrugs. “Maybe next time.”
I glare at
her. She’s not funny but I don’t have the energy to deal with her banter.
Though, maybe she doesn’t have much energy either because she’s not as witty as
usual.
“How are
you handling the news?” She asks with a serious tone, though her gaze remains
on Cassie.
“I’m
dealing, I guess,” I close my eyes briefly taking a deep breath. “Can you
picture me as a father?”
I gesture
to myself, showing her the hot mess that I am. Then, point to the
apartment I live in which is above the car shop.
“I’m a
fucked-up guy who can’t finish anything. I can’t even get along with my
parents. What am I supposed to do with a baby?”
“Love her,”
she answers.
“You should
give yourself some credit, Heath. She has the best dad in the world, and you
two have me and my family.”
I smile at
her and say the obvious, “I can always count on you.”
Lee studies
Cassie. She smiles at her, but her face looks a little saddened. Her brown eyes
are slightly red and watery. Was she crying? I’m sure it’s nothing. Later, when
I’m not busy with my baby I’ll ask her what’s wrong. In the meantime, I have to
learn how to be a dad.
Maybe I can
find a book on how to be a father online. It worked with the car shop, and so
far, I’ve managed it well enough.

“By
the way, how are you settling in? Still in love with the apartment?” he teases,
arching one eyebrow, his voice loaded with humor.
I make a face. “What exactly are you hinting
at?” I ask, and he lets out a laugh, his eyes bright with amusement. He puts
his hands in his pockets, and relaxes, slouching his shoulders a little. “Is
this your way of asking me if I’ve experienced any paranormal activity?” The
sound of his laughter stirs something in my chest, a happy feeling I haven’t
felt in so long. I don’t miss the looks I’m getting from the women he was
talking to. Also, I just can’t miss the opportunity to tease him in return.
“Oh, yeah.
I haven’t had a chance to tell you. There’s a ghost who visits me every night.
I haven’t been getting much sleep but all in all…I can’t really complain,”
I tell him with a knowing look, and his face falls immediately.
He looks
pale, and I almost feel sorry I lied.
Almost.
“You’re
joking,” he tells me, jaw taut, a panicked look in his eyes.
“Not so
funny now, is it?” I quip and see him slowly regain the color that had gone
amiss from his cheeks. His eyes sparkle like emeralds as he recovers, and the
corner of his lips tilts into a grin that tells me he’ll make me pay for it.
I wouldn’t
be opposed to the idea, if it entails certain things.
He points a
finger at me and shakes his head in disbelief.
“That
wasn’t funny, Ines.”
“That was very funny and you know it.”
“Alright.
You got me. I’m going to stop teasing you now, okay?”
Oh, please don’t.
I shrug. “A
little teasing never hurt anybody, am I right?”
He nods
slowly, a small smile stretching across his face. His eyes linger on me, as if
trying to read me. I felt bold a moment ago, but now that he’s staring at me
with such intensity, I feel my cheeks redden and look down.

Kimberly Simmons is
gorgeous, brilliant, and way out of my league. She’s definitely not the type to
fall for a guy who walked away from his family’s fortune to become an
architect. Good thing, too, because she works for Wolfe Industries, making her
completely off-limits. Nailing this pitch to Wolfe’s CEO is exactly what I need
to make my bosses forget about the last time I mixed business with pleasure.
Too bad she has the most beautiful brown eyes and dazzling smile I’ve ever
seen. Too bad I can’t stop staring.
Adam Price is a
talented rising star architect at Will and Peking Designs. His newest design
submission for The Wolfe Industries Caribbean Expansion is set to dazzle my
CEO.) If Adam’s design wins, with my help, I could get promoted, which means
his big strong arms and gorgeous lips are strictly forbidden. It’s a good
thing, too, because he has a reputation for leaving a trail of broken hearts
all over Manhattan and I’m pretty sure I couldn’t survive a second heartbreak.
Too bad every word he says makes me smile. Too bad he gives me a sense of calm
I haven’t felt in a long time.
Keeping their
relationship strictly professional for the sake of their jobs was the perfect
excuse to stay away from each other. Too bad fate and undeniable chemistry have
other plans…
This standalone,
workplace/forced proximity romance features characters from the previous
novellas Everything’s Better With You and Cherishing the Goddess, is full of
alphas and steam, and has NO cheating.

Just a guess.” I shrugged.
“Well, I assume from your sudden change of expression, my
reputation precedes me.”
My poker face needed some serious work. I tried to plaster
on a professional smile. “You studied architecture at The Pratt Institute for
both undergrad and grad school. You’ve worked on an impressive number of
international projects before becoming the youngest senior architect at Will

hospitality project for Wolfe Industries.”
“That’s pretty impressive and spot on.” He nodded
appreciatively. “Who are you?”
“Thanks,” I said with a nod, feeling like I’d dodged a very
uncomfortable bullet. “I’m Kimberly Simmons. I work for Wolfe. I’ll be working
with you on the pitch.”

Gray
“I dreamed
about you every night.” My confession makes her smile.
It’s the
truth. It’s the only truth I know—if she’s in danger, I’ll carry her out. If
she’s crying, I hold her until she stops. If she wants me… I can’t tell her no.
It’s been
that way since she was just a cute little kid. It’s been this way since last
summer when everything changed. I tried to fight it. She was only seventeen. I
was almost twenty-one… Her daddy would’ve shot me dead and buried my body.
I tried to
date… One time. It was a fucking disaster. I could only see her, taste her,
want her. Only Drew gets me this way.
At night,
I’d lie in bed and remember the first time we were together. Two triangles of
white fabric covered her small breasts. I could see the curves at the bottoms
and sides. They were perfect handfuls, high and pointed.
She looked
at me as if she knew what she was doing to me in that white bikini. I’m sure I
looked like an awestruck fool.
Then she
blinked and tucked her chin into her shoulder, taunting me. Her hair swished
down her back, ending at her slim waist. Her flat stomach led to round hips,
long, silky legs. Her toenails were painted bright white, and I wanted to put
them in my mouth. I’ve never wanted to do that.
I’ve never
wanted to devour someone before.
My dick was
so hard.
“I dreamed
of you touching me.” Her voice drips with desire, and just like that, I have a
steel rod in my pants. “Will you touch me now?”
“Drew…” I
should tell her no.
Being here
with her is dangerous.
If Danny
found out… He’d say what I know. I’m too old for her. She’s too young. I should
give her a chance to grow up. On top of that, I have nothing, no name, no
status. I’m an orphan raised by a nobody.
I’m working
to change it, but I haven’t yet.
She takes
my hand and places it on the top of her thigh, at the hem of her red dress.
“Touch me here,” she whispers, leaning into my ear.
She owns me
in this moment, and she knows it.
She knows
holding her is the greatest feeling in the world. It’s like coming home.
Her hand
guides mine higher, sliding up the smooth skin of her leg. I feel her body
tremble, and when my fingers touch the soft folds of her sex, I almost come in
my pants. She’s not wearing underwear.
“Drew.” My
voice is a hungry noise, the growl of a starving man.
“Yes,” she
sighs. “Touch me, Gray.”
Her nails
cut into my shoulders as I trace my fingers along the damp slit, teasing the
tiny strip of curls, dipping the tip of one finger into her tight, clenching
core. One more, and she moans. She’s so wet. I want to taste her.
“Gray…” Her
hands go to my waist, pulling at the button on my jeans. She has my pants
undone, and my erection is pointing right at her.
“Hang on.” I
stand, fishing out my wallet, finding a condom.
I turn to
the side to roll it on my aching dick.
As much as
I dream of her carrying my baby, I know neither one of us is ready for that
responsibility. Hell, I’m leaving for fucking Africa in less than two days. How
I’ll survive four years without her, I don’t have a fucking clue, but I won’t
do what they say I will. I won’t “ruin her” and run off.
My hands
are on her again, lifting her by the ass and carrying her so her back is
against the wall. Her mouth is on my neck, her soft tongue touching my hot skin
as she kisses her way higher. I’m about to explode.
“I need you
inside me.” Her lips graze my ear before she kisses it, and I don’t hesitate.
Lowering
her onto my dick, my knees almost give out. My mind tilts at the sensation of
her hot, tight, and clenching around my shaft. I have to hold still or I’ll
come. Her thighs tense around my waist, and she struggles to move, letting out
a low moan.
“Gray…” I
feel her tremble, her muscles spasm, and my brow tightens.
I raise my
head to find her eyes. “Did you come?”
Her nose
curls, and she stretches up and down on me. “I came when you touched me.” She
grips my shoulders, pulling up to kiss me. “Do it hard—the way you like it. I
want to feel you. I want to remember you were here.”
Jesus. My eyes close, and I lower my
mouth to hers. Her lips part, and our tongues curl together. I start to move, a
deep thrust, and there’s no turning back.
“Drew…”
It’s a ragged groan, and her body breaks again.
I’m
relentless, driven by a need that never lets me go. Her small breasts bounce
against my chest with every hard thrust. She moans, and her back arches, more
clenching around my dick, pulling me further in.
“Oh,” she
gasps, and I brace myself.
This is
better than any drug. She’s my crack cocaine.
My hands
grip her hips, pulling us together again and again, until I break, pressing her
to the wall, filling that condom with every pulse, the way I dream of filling
her, of putting my baby into her, of having all the things I want with her, a
home, a family.
I’m
breathing hard. My eyes are closed, and her fingers trace my neck, thread into
my hair. She kisses my jaw, my cheek. The sensations consume me, overpower me.
I hold onto her as I fumble my way back to Earth. I got lost in heaven.
Mine…
Mine…
The word
echoes in my ears on every heartbeat. What will it take to make her mine?

Synopsis

Do you believe that some souls are destined to be together, even through hardship and deceit?

After 9-11, Declan’s heart is torn between wanting to stay with Morgan and needing to fight for his beloved country. Knowing that the future may be uncertain, he kisses his fiancée goodbye and focuses on his mission until that dark day from which he will never fully recover. Injured in Afghanistan, Declan has lost more than part of his leg, he’s lost part of himself, now plagued in grief and guilt. How could he possibly ask Morgan to take care of him for the rest of his life, being nothing but a burden to her? Which would be more heartbreaking, feigning his own death or bringing her unhappiness every day? If only he could eradicate her from his mind and be at peace with his decision.

Morgan prays day and night for Declan’s safe return, but when his letters stop coming, Morgan knows in her heart that she has lost him forever. Morgan has a hard time believing in fate and destiny after her fiancé is taken from her. With Declan gone, Morgan’s hope for true love is de-stroyed, but eventually she finds comfort in the arms of another. Excerpt

Her face was the only thing that had kept him sane during his deployment. At this moment, however, thoughts of Morgan had been pushed to the side for reasons of pure survival. Declan wiped the mud from his eye with a swift movement of his hand, just quick enough so that he could see again. Booming thunder went off near and far.

Swearing under his breath, Declan closed one eye and squinted the other shut as he spied his target.Breathe. One, two, three… he could do this. The first time he’d had to shoot another man he had faltered, hesitated only the briefest of seconds, during which time the man escaped his line of sight and shot a fellow soldier in the leg, causing serious injury.

This time, Declan concentrated, aimed his M4 rifle, and fired. The distinct thud of a man dropping to the ground confirmed the target had been hit. Swiping at the sweat in his eyes from the sweltering mid-day heat, Declan gulped and struggled to his knees. Lining up his rifle again, his neck and shoulders ached with fatigue. He bit down and gritted his teeth, tasting dirt while fighting off the pain.

It seemed as if hours had gone by, when in fact, it had probably only been minutes when finally the haunting sound of gunfire ceased. Not one to trust silence in any setting, Declan mentally counted upward until he reached near fifty.

“All clear,” his buddy, Sean, called out. “All clear.”

Declan, always cautious, still maintained his position until he heard his fellow soldiers from his platoon begin to speak. Peeking up from his ravine, Declan rose slowly to his feet as the rifle was pressed to his side.

Surveying the damage, it appeared that several of their enemies were lying still on the ground. The man he had shot lay still, appearing lifeless. Another man lay several feet away. It seemed the enemies had taken off, deserting the boundaries of the mountainous terrain of Afghanistan. His platoon mates fell silent, all business as they quickly gathered their belongings to head back to base.

Declan clutched his rifle, drawing closer to his victim. Curiosity had gotten the best of him. Fully aware of his previous actions, Declan stepped even closer. He had never killed a man before — injured, yes, but never killed. This man did not appear to be alive.

His heart sped up as sweat caused his fatigues to cling to his body. For God’s sake, the man looked to have been only in his early twenties at best. What have I done? What are we doing here? Waves of nausea rose and Declan swallowed hard.

“Hey! Step back!” Sean called out. “Move out! I repeat, move out!”

Hearing his friend call out to him, Declan turned toward the sound of his voice, realizing his mistake seconds too late. He should have known better; he should have. But no amount of training can prepare you for taking another man’s life.

Glancing swiftly at Sean through tear-stained eyes, he saw the movement in his peripheral vision. Sean raced to the open dirt road. They were sitting ducks, in plain sight. The man that Declan had presumed dead, the one he had shot, raised his own rifle and fired at Sean, who dropped instantly to ground.

“No! No!” Declan spun his head back to the imminent threat, a moment too late. The force of the explosion knocked him to the ground in an instant. Morgan’s face was the last thing that registered in his mind as another shot fired, leaving his world black.

****

Clouds scattered overhead, cries of gulls bringing back another time, a different memory, sitting here with Declan by her side. Morgan squeezed her jaw, fighting back the pain.

Months later, there was still no word from Declan. On the Internet, she had searched out his name relentlessly but there was no mention of Declan, no death certificates and his name couldn’t be found on any list of casualties of the war. It was as if he had simply disappeared, but that wasn’t possible and she feared the worst. He was gone and there was no closure for Morgan, as his only living relatives were his mom and some family living on the west coast, whom Declan hadn’t seen in years. Even she and Declan’s old friend, Stephen seemed to be losing touch.

She could sit on this beach and watch the water forever; it was a place Declan had cherished, a place she felt close to him. Never again would her life be the same without Declan Blake. How was she going to make it without him?

The world was quiet and without joy for Morgan. Even Morgan’s mother nagged her to speak with a therapist. She didn’t see the purpose of smiling or laughing when it was all forced. Constant thoughts of Declan plagued her day and night.

Morgan nearly jumped when her cell rang. First instincts were to let the call go to voicemail, but she knew the person calling would only persist. That’s how it had been lately; she would ignore phone calls only to find tons of messages waiting.

It was Elle, calling for the second time that day. “Hi, Elle.”

“Where have you been? I’ve been trying to call you for hours,” Elle exclaimed.

“I don’t know, I’m just hanging out.”

“Down by the river again?” Elle inquired.

“Yup,” Morgan responded as she moved her foot around in the sand.

“Figured as much.”

Elle’s voice sounded odd, almost as if she were hearing her close by. Morgan turned to see her friend walking toward her on the grassy path leading to the small beach.

Rising to her feet, Morgan felt tears escape. Elle was by her side, arms wrapped around her within moments. Morgan released Elle and took a small step back.

“Oh, Elle, what am I going to do?” she sobbed.

“You’re going to live, dammit. Declan would want you to be happy.”

“How? How can I forget about him, just move on?” It wasn’t possible, she had tried, and it just wasn’t working. Even when she was at work, she was just going through the motions; she did her job, but her heart wasn’t the same.

“I think it’s time for you to see someone to talk about all of this. You’ve waited long enough.”

She was right and so was her mother, believe it or not. “I will, Elle. I will because I don’t know what else to do.”

“Morgan, you’re the strongest person I know. You have so much happiness and love to share. I have full confidence in you. You’re going to make it and come out stronger in the end.” Elle spoke through her own tears.

“Thanks, Elle. I love you.” Morgan felt better knowing there was someone on her side rooting for her.

EXCERPT

Blake was a little ways ahead, but stopped and turned around. “You okay back there, princess?”

I waved him on. “Don’t worry about me!” I shouted. Picking up my pace, I reached down and grabbed a handful of snow. Each step he took, I did double to catch up to him. My fingers were numb from the snow, but I was almost there. Just a few more steps . . .

Blake sidestepped and tackled me out of nowhere, making me scream. His feet slipped and we both fell to the ground, laughing as we rolled around in the snow. He ended up pinning me to the ground, his legs straddling my waist and his body flush with mine. I shivered and it wasn’t because of the snow.

“You should know better than to sneak up on someone like me,” he said. His eyes strayed to my lips.

“I didn’t think you’d hear me,” I whispered breathlessly.

“You’d be surprised what I notice, princess.” He trailed a finger down my cheek to my rapidly beating heart. “Like how your heart is racing right now. I didn’t know I had that effect on you.” I blew out a nervous breath and he smiled, his lips getting closer to mine. “Tell me what you want,” he murmured.

“I can’t.”

“Why?”

“Because once I say the words, I can’t take them back.”

He brought his hands to my face, his thumbs tracing my cheeks. “Maybe this will help.” His lips closed over mine and I melted against him, willingly giving in. I’d never been kissed like that and I didn’t want it to stop. I wanted more. He pushed his tongue inside and I moaned as the heat rose between my legs. Holy hell, I wanted him. Rocking my hips up into him, I dug my nails in his back and he growled, pulling away.

“Fuck, Hadley.”

“What’s wrong?” I asked, breathing hard.

He brushed the hair off my face and kissed me again. “You make me want things I can’t have.”I nodded. He said exactly what I was thinking. “I know how you feel.”

“You didn’t give me what I want either, so now I’m going to take from you what I want even more.” His tongue dips out to wet his lips, and he bites the bottom one for just a second. For some reason, my eyes zoom in on it, and they forget for just a second what’s going on here.

“You’ll like it … don’t worry,” he muses, stepping even closer so he can smell me.

I turn my head to the side while he sniffs me, trying to lean away, but it seems it only makes him come closer. He places a soft kiss on my neck, his tongue drawing a line upward toward my ear. Right before he nibbles my ear, he hovers in front of it, and for a second, I think I can hear him smile.

He hisses, “I love your smell. Your taste. They make me so fucking hard.”

Suddenly, his hand is on my breast, kneading, tugging, and twisting. Everything and anywhere, all at the same time. Sensory overload makes me gasp, and when my mouth opens, he covers it with his. He takes my breath quite literally, kissing me until my moan is silenced, kissing me with everything he has. His taste is familiar, intoxicating, and for a second, I forget that I’m even hanging here. His tongue expertly licks the roof of my mouth, his lips brushing mine with equal fervor.

“This is what I’ll take from you,” he murmurs into my mouth.

His free hand slides down my body and past my inner thighs, pushing my legs apart as he starts rubbing me. I feel humiliated. Used. Shameful, for actually feeling my pussy thump from having him touch me.

“Hmm … you like it when I touch you.” It’s not even a question.

“No …” I say, shaking my head.

He grins. “Yes, you do.” He pushes a finger on top of my clit. “Right here.”

I moan when he rubs it with his index finger and then brings his thumb into the play to roll my clit. Wetness is building inside me as my core clenches, desperate to fight off the arousal, but my body is a fool for his touch.

My mind has been deprived for too long, and when he offers me this release, I’m too weak to fight it. It crosses my mind that perhaps, if I give this to him, he’ll be more gentle with me. Maybe, if I give him anything he wants, he’ll let me go.

It might be a futile thought, but it’s here, and it’s not going anywhere.

“Don’t think I’m doing this for your pleasure, Sky.” He groans. “Oh, no. I’m doing this because I want to watch you writhe from my finger.”

Still twisting and pulling my nipples with one hand, he’s driving me crazy with lust, as the other expertly builds the desire between my legs.

“I’m going to watch you come, and you’re going to enjoy it, and then hate yourself for liking it. And tomorrow, we’ll do the same thing. And then again … and again …”

“Stop …” I moan.

Who am I kidding? He’s not going to, and I’m not even sure I want him to stop anymore. He’s got me under a spell, and I’m helpless to fight it.
