A New York Times and USA Today Bestseller!

Ever since hard-bodied, drop-dead-charming Shane McCallan strolled into the dance club where Crystal Dean works, he’s shown a knack for getting beneath her defenses. For her little sister’s sake, Crystal can’t get too close. Until her job and Shane’s mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.

Shane would never turn his back on a friend in need, especially a former Special Forces teammate running a dangerous, off-the-books operation. Nor can he walk away from Crystal. The gorgeous waitress is hiding secrets she doesn’t want him to uncover. Too bad. He’s exactly the man she needs to protect her sister, her life, and her heart. All he has to do is convince her that when something feels this good, you hold on as hard as you can–and never let go.

My Thoughts

This book was sexy and enticing!! The book had irresistible chemistry between Crystal and Shane and had danger around every corner!

“Sometimes you gotta break some rules to do what’s right.”

The Hard Ink Special forces team stands together to get there names cleared. With the help of Nick’s new girlfriend Becca funding there quest of clearing there names. The night they rescued Charlie,Becca’s brother they got help from a beautiful woman that worked and the club where Churches gang work. Shane found out that they are trafficking women and that just does not sit right with them because he lost his sister Molly when he was younger since that day he on he became a fixer doing everything he can to treat women right.

“Crystal was well aware that much of her life was a lie, a charade, a play in a never-ending series of one acts wherein the climax determined whether she lived or died,  remained free or got lost forever in the dark, seedy, underbelly of the world. Sad, sad fact that this place, this situation, this life wasn’t even close to the worst that there was.”

At the club where they got help from the sexy and enticing woman Crystal, Shane decided to go back there and get her help to stop Church’s gang. She did not want to help him because of her past but he was so different to the guys that she is use to. They both got captivated with each other. Shane bugged her apartment with out her knowing but he helped her with her younger sister Jenna who has bad ashma the night he bugged the place.   Shane was her savoir who got Crystal out of the world of slavery and working for people against her will. Shane saved her sister after Crystal’s boyfriend and head of the security of Church kidnapped her for revenge because Crystal was falling for Shane and he was jealous.

“Her heart told her Shane might well be the most dangerous man she’d ever met because he mad her want, wish, maybe even dream.”

Shane and Crystal’s story is about finding the courage to be your self despite the dangers. For me book one had a tiny bit more suspense where as this book revolved more around the relationship. Just like the first book the characters where unique and a lot of alpha male and total bad ass going along there! I am still reeling of the end of this book so I can not wait to read the next installment, Hard To Hold on To , A novella out this August. So far this is my favorite series of Laura Kaye.

“You’re so good to me, Shane McCallan. Do you know that? You’re the best man I’ve ever known.”
